  2. This news is back. "...Tencent has its focus set on using Ripple’s xVia, which is restricted for use strictly amongst corporate payment providers and commercial institutions like banks. Tencent will be using Ripple’s xVia as a quintessential tool for its products which will be made available for access in the mass market." https://globalcoinreport.com/asian-conglomerate-tencent-set-to-inject-huge-sum-into-ripple/

  4. https://ambcrypto.com/ripple-xvia-to-be-integrated-with-smart-banking-platform-platio/ Did anyone see this? I might be missing it, but I don't see where anyone discussed it on the forum. (If I missed it, sorry.) A "smart banking platform" named Platio confirmed they are going to use xVia. Not the most exciting thing we could have happen, but still... On 3rd September, it was revealed that Platio, an all in one smart banking platform headquartered in London, has entered into a partnership with Ripple. The revelation came after an XRP enthusiast named Leonidas posted a question to the Platio team regarding one of their previous announcements. Leonidas tweeted: “Your whitepaper mentions Ripple solutions a lot. Do you have a partnership with Ripple? Will you be utilizing XRP for cross border payments? We would love to hear more about it!” The Platio team stated in response to his question: “We have a vendor agreement with Ripple. We will be integrating with Ripple’s xVia feature to transmit payments.”

  10. https://www.coindesk.com/xrp-fits-ripples-payments-products-explained/ Surprisingly good article from the infamous CoinDesk, huh?
  11. This comes from : https://twitter.com/jeremy_87110 xCurrent, xRapid and xVia, Explanation. I will try to keep this thread as technical as possible. @Ripple has a few products it provides to its clients. Each of the products provides additional/different functionality. Three main products by Ripple are: xCurrent, xRapid and xVia. 1/ xCurrent is made out of four parts: 1) Messenger - provides peer to peer communication between originator and beneficiary. Messenger is responsible for providing different information, like KYC, FX rates, payment details etc. 2/ 2) Validator - this component cryptographically confirms success/failure of a payment. It represents "single source of truth" for the transacting peers. Banks can run their own validator or can rely on a third-party validator (in which case BFT algorithm is used). 3/ Validator is also used to coordinate moving of funds accross ILP (@Interledger) Ledgers. 4/ 3) ILP Ledger - a subledger which can be incoporated into bank's current ledger. It is used to track credits, debits and liquidity across transacting parties. Funds are settled atomically, meaning that they are settled instantly or not at all. 5/ 4) FX Ticker - used to define exchange rates between transacting parties. This component facilitates the exchange between ILP Ledgers by enabling liquidity providers to post FX rates. 6/ xCurrent is independent from xRapid. Banks that use xCurrent do not have to use xRapid in their testing or in any point in time in the future. They still get a great service with lower costs. The idea of xCurrent is to enable faster cross border payments. 7/ Nevertheless, there are some cases in which @Ripple team enabled xCurrent to be used for domestic payments (e.g Japan). That was because domestic payments in Japan took very long time to settle. There is also a good example of xCurrent's primary role in Mexico (@Cuallix). 8/ Use cases that include xCurrent usually require that at least one of the parties has all four components (Messenger, Validator, ILP Ledger, FX Ticker) installed. The second party than has to operate only Messenger and ILP Ledger components. 9/ One of slightly different use cases is when a third party is operating this stack on behalf of e.g. originator. The payment provider then has to operate ILP Ledger and Messenger components. If this is the case, beneficiary doesn't have to operate any of the components. 10/ The second is when both originator and beneficiary are operating full stack when they have established a credit line with one another. In third-party liquidity scenario, liquidity provider runs FX Ticker and Validator, orignator and beneficiary run ILP Ledger and Messenger. 11/ The last scenario is planned for Q1 of 2018. In this scenario, both originator and beneficiary run full stack with all four components, while correspondent bank runs ILP Ledger and Messenger components. 12/ xRapid is meant to run with xCurrent to further lower the costs for banks. It is based on using $XRP to provide more liquidity for banks. They enable the banks to have their wallet with XRP instead of having to keep a number of nostro/vostro accounts. 13/ Funds that are kept in those types of accounts are so called dormant capital. This means that it can be used when there's a need, but the rest of the time it is just sitting there not being used and costing financial institutions additional money. 14/ If you wanted to keep 7-way accounts between 8 banks, where each bank would have an account in 7 other banks, that would take 28 accounts. That's like a full mesh network. You can calculate the number of accounts needed (between n banks) using the formula: n*(n-1)/2. 15/ If you were using #XRP, then you would need only *one* account. $XRP as a digital asset is supposed to be used as a bridging asset between any two other fiat currencies, with fixed fees, much lower than once used when converting between two fiat currencies. 16/ The cost for banks comes from hedging XRP because it's volatile at the moment. Using xCurrent and xRapid, FIs can save up to 42%. When XRP becomes less volitile, then banks can save up to 60%. 17/ Future improvements of xRapid should include path-finding algorithm. If you're into networks, in my opinion, that would be something similar to OSPF (Open Shortest Path First) which is based on Dijkstra's algorithm (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dijkstra%27s_algorithm …). 18/ In the end, the last product, xVia, to my understanding, is supposed to provide sort of a gateway to RippleNet, allowing for usage of all of the features of this network, without the need to install xCurrent or xRapid (not sure about the last part). That's all folks.

  17. This is something that has been out for a little while but no seems to be talking about it and I wanted to know what you guys think. https://ripple.com/insights/ripples-product-suite-growing/ It doesn't look good for XRP itself. It looks like they are splitting their service. My understanding of Ripple was that they were going to be integrating their currency pretty heavily into their services. Now it looks like they have segregated XRP into a service called xRapid. Iv done limited reading into this but from what I have had time for to read it seems counter intuitive to offer 2 other services that customers would go with that don't have anything to do with XRP. It could be good for them as a company but for anybody into XRP I think this could hurt the price.
  18. I don't understand where XRP stands now and ripple.com is confusing right now. Are these all new coins or what the heck??
  19. https://steemit.com/cryptocurrency/@cryptotraderx/ripple-comes-out-with-xcurrent-xrapid-and-xvia-wondering-what-this-is There's a new blogger in town! I love it... and he dove deeper than I did and found some youtube videos already for xCurrent. In case you want to skip directly to the video, that is here.
  20. This is my latest blog entry: I talk about Ripple's new product offerings for XRP amid the Bitcoin Fork drama I think it's indicative of Ripple's marketing strategy to chart their own course and separate themselves from the other crypto-currencies on the same day (roughly) that the Bitcoin fork is happening. I don't believe in coincidences. Let me know if you like the blog entry / don't like it or in-between. Also, please feel free to share it on other media! Reddit Twitter
