Blog URL: https://coil.com/p/Hodor/XRP-News-Update-June-21st-2019/5jVJvC10y The MoneyGram deal and Facebook continue to grab headlines, but I cover all the other major news impacting XRP in my latest blog. 5. Question to @WietseWind /u/pepperew . While catching up and reading what our friends @ Stellar/Keybase are doing I was wondering if the same could be done with XRPtipbot i.e. start tipping people using issued currencies (IOUs) on the XRP ledger. On top of that when the checks amendment is available could it be possible to add this option to XRPtipbot as well? Granted the whole "checks thing" was a bit weird to me at first and is probably the main reason why (trusted) validators haven't supported it yet. The checks could be seen as coupons and gift cards (with expiration date) "issued" by the (gaming/music/entertainment) industry. There could be a big potential for this. Checks can maybe be implemented in a similar fashion as the escrow option in the "withdraw" section of the XRPtipbot? While "withdrawing" you'll in fact be sending a check to someone and thus "tipping" them... Currently we have +amount /u/xrptipbot to tip XRPs to a reddit user. In the future, would it be possible to send +1 USD/EUR/BTC/ETH/PPRW /u/xrptipbot ? The XRPtipbot users don't even need to hold the issued tokens in their XRP Ledger account (no trust lines). Neither do they need to have IOUs in their XRPtipbot. They could simply deposit XRP to the tip bot like they do right now and then the conversion can be done just like in the XRPayments app. For example, if I would tip +10 USD to someone, the tipbot basically would just do the USD-to-XRP (supposedly via on-ledger DEX) conversion and send that user the XRPs (10 USD ~= 25 XRP). This is the "trick" XRPayments use meaning that even though I sent 10 USD they would still receive that amount in XRPs. Not really the purpose of my post but this could be one of the options. Another way to do this is to really send them what the user wanted in the first place. If someone paid my beer(s) and the total amount was 10$ then I'd like to pay them back exactly 10 bucks. This could be done by taking e.g. 25 XRP (~= 10 $) from my XRPtipbot account and converting XRPs to IOUs of my choice (via built-in DEX (best offer)) and then deposit 10 USD to that person's XRPtipbot account. In this example I don't have any IOUs in my XRPtipbot account and my XRPs are converted to USDs via on-ledger DEX. For this to actually work the tipbot accounts would need to be able to store IOUs. When withdrawing the IOUs, the user should be able to chose to convert them into the XRP (again via DEX to get the best offer when converting to XRP) or simply to withdraw the IOUs themselves to their on-ledger XRP account (trust lines). Most of the people would probably chose to convert IOUs to XRP. That's why this option would be a must have. 6. Hello XRP Chat Community, I am really excited to take the chance to present to you the fundraiser that I have recently started with the aim of covering the costs of one of the 3D printed homes that New Story Charity (An organization based in the US) is planning to build in my country El Salvador later this year. You can find out more about New Story´s 3D printed homes project here. Background I was born in El Salvador and all my life I have witnessed the poor living conditions of entire families and communities have to go through. When I learned about New Story´s work in my country and their plans of making such a big impact by building an entire 3D printed community there, I immediately started thinking of launching a fundraiser campaign to help fund one of the homes. As a guy with not such a big network it required some out-of-the box thinking to figure out how to raise $4000, which is the expected cost of one home, as mentioned in their website. As an XRP enthusiast and after seeing the great success of the StJude XRP fundraiser, I decided to launch a campaign on Twitter under the twitter handle @onemorehome You can find more information about my motivation to start this fundraiser in my kick-off Medium post here Progress so far / Current Status After the launch of the fundraiser, my campaign was evaluated by the Good Souls Group, and invited to be a member after meeting the requirements. Under current XRP prices ($0.306), the cost of one home is around 52.7% funded, thanks to one direct donation of 6200 XRP and 401 tips received through the XRP Tip Bot on Twitter. The total raised so far is 6873.080462 XRP As a result of the endorsement from GSG, the One More Home campaign was featured together with the other GSG member charities in Hodor´s blog: Helping Others...with Our XRP. How will donated XRP turn into a 3D printed home? The ideal scenario would be that New Story Charity would accept XRP donations directly, however they have stated that they are not accepting XRP donations at this time. For this reason, I have decided to create a dedicated XRP card in Uphold where XRP will be exchanged for $4000 which will be deposited to New Story Charity here. Screenshots of the transaction flow will be published on Medium and Twitter for transparency. 3D printed homes are planned towards the end of 2019. Therefore, there is still chance that: XRP will gain value against USD, maximizing the impact of the donations received, ideally even allowing the opportunity to pursue funding more than one home. As adoption of XRP increases, New Story changes their mind and decide to accept XRP donations. In that case, I would donate in XRP directly. The XRP raised will not necessarily be exchanged for USD immediately after the $4000 goal is reached. Market conditions and the status of the project by New Story will be taken into account for this decision. Donation Options XRP If you would like to donate to One More Home, you can visit the XRP Tip Bot donation page and deposit or donate. Or you can tip the Twitter account @onemorehome USD The One More Home campaign is also supporting New Story´s current projects, where homes are built still using traditonal methods. You can find more information and donate here. Summary In conclusion, to be able to fund a safe and adequate home built using 3D printing technology for a family currently living in slums, through XRP donations via the Tip Bot would be the ultimate Tech For Good, where the great potential of XRP´s value, micro-donations and 3D printing technology can be brought together to change the lives of those in need. I would like to invite you to take part of this initiative, any donation received brings us closer to funding #onemorehome

  10. Hello all, I’m new to this site but have been a long time hodler of XRP. I’m no whale but certainly not a minnow in relation to the rich list stats. Over the course of this entire experience, I found it hardest to convince loved ones of this revolutionary technology and where Ripple/XRP are headed in the future. I come from a large family and yet I am the only investor. I find myself upset at the fact that I cannot convince anyone to understand what’s about to happen even though I have a long and extensive background in computer science as well as a greater than average understanding of economics with years of experience investing. My first question to the board is; does anyone else have this issue and if so, we’re you successful in convincing them and how so? I’d also like to get some experience using the XRPtipbot as maybe a way to share and get them interested. Is there a trustworthy guide or manual on how to use it? Such as requirements for both party’s of the transaction (they need to have this and that before tipping). I’m assuming some sort of online wallet needs to be created for each party but not sure. Thanks in advance! Go Ripple! Go XRP!
  11. In today's blog, the retrospective of XRP and Ripple finishes with a closer look at our prior year, 2017. We've come a long way, and 2017 demonstrates that in spades. This blog will cover key code updates for XRP, the controv ersial topic of anonymous payments, community promotions, and XRP's own version of the "Bitcoin Pizza Guy," which is known more as the "XRP Jacket Guy." (He knows who he is!) And for those of you that are new, I wax nostalgic about the old RippleTrade wallet - something only fellow XRP veterans will appreciate. No retelling of 2017 for Ripple and XRP would be complete without discussing SWELL and the Central Bank Summit on Blockchain hosted by Ripple.
