This is just a general question that's been on my mind... What are the possible insurance industry applications for the XRP Ledger? Crypto in general? I'm thinking escrow opens up a lot of possibilities, as well as the general immutability aspect of a blockchain. Some of my "brainstorm" ideas for insurance generally: Life Insurance: XRP Ledger Escrow for "Traditional Whole Life Policy" Storage of premium payments on the XRP ledger Health Insurance: Storage of premium payments on the XRP ledger Escrow of Insurance payout until all paperwork approved by Insurer Long-Term Disability: Storage of premium payments on the XRP ledger Escrow of Insurance payout until all paperwork approved by Insurer Auto Insurance: Storage of premium payments on the XRP ledger Escrow of Insurance payout until all paperwork approved by Insurer That's my initial brainstorm list, but I know I'm probably missing something. In addition, does usage of blockchain tech allow for entirely new types of insurance instruments? Is a smart contract system better suited for insurance applications? Anybody know of any Ethereum DApps that target this market? Thanks for any feedback / pointers!

I would like to create an ATM machine that accepts Fiat converts it into crypto using the decentralized exchange but I don't know anything about coding .Iwas wondering where I should start. I don't have money to fund it it's a passion project. I went to a Bitcoin ATM machine they had $100 premium on bitcoin plus $11 fee I don't see why you couldn't make a basically free crypto ATM machine that charged $3.75 per transaction. Any thoughts are appreciated

The XRP Ledger dev portal is not just moving to new digs, it's got a new philosophy. It's not Ripple's site, it's the XRP Ledger's site. (We're just helping.) Check out the new site and get BUIDLing! https://xrpl.org/

I like this note: Side note: In fact, this is a lesser-known place XRP shines, compared to other blockchains. You know, those annoying 20 XRP (the account minimum reserve) that is required to create an account, and that you can never have back unless a vote among the nodes lowers the reserve, it is, in fact, helpful in keeping the ledger pretty clean (along with destination tags). There are far fewer accounts, making reuse of accounts preferable to creating new ones. https://www.forbes.com/sites/thomassilkjaer/2019/02/05/blockchain-and-graphs-pattern-detection-and-fraud-investigation/#3f066114a6f5

We've recently published two new articles to the XRP Ledger Dev Portal, both discussing the subject of Consensus: Introduction to Consensus is just that—a beginner level summary of Consensus in the XRP Ledger. Hopefully this can help new people pick up enough to get up and running with the XRP Ledger without getting as deep into the weeds as the older, more detailed consensus article. Consensus Protections Against Attacks and Failure Modes is a new FAQ-like article that discusses some of the various threats to the XRP Ledger and how it's set up to handle them. There's also a new blog post @JoelKatz shared on the Ripple Insights Blog: The Inherently Decentralized Nature of XRP Ledger. This one talks about the future of XRP decentralization and why the lack of mining is good for the network. (Forewarning: I think this article can be a little confusing when it switches between talking about the total number of validators and the trusted validators that most of the network pays attention to.) If you find these articles helpful or interesting, we'd be happy to hear it! And if you're befuddled or want to know more, please ask away. More importantly, I hope that building a better understanding of the XRP Ledger and its greater ecosystem can help you make more informed choices in the future, especially if you choose to contribute to the Internet of Value!

In this latest blog, the topics include Ripple's xRapid marketing strategy, a panel where Marjan Delatinne is scheduled to discuss PSD2, and SWIFT's embarrassing announcement about its failed POC with blockchain. Also, there's good news on the exchange front, as Huobi looks to set foot on U.S. soil. Rounding things out is an incredible announcement of a community-created application to text XRP peer-to-peer, along with shocking information about Cobalt - the name given to the planned upgrades to the XRP Ledger. Last night we added several new pieces of documentation to the XRP Ledger in preparation for the upcoming release of rippled 0.90.0: Deposit Authorization is a new feature for compliance with regulations such as the New York Bitlicense. In addition to the concept page, the flag has been added in appropriate places such as the AccountSet transaction reference. Checks documentation has been added to the transaction reference and ledger reference. Checks are a feature originally conceived back in, like, 2012 or something, which got new life recently when we realized they'd solve one of the challenges with Deposit Authorization. We also added specific instructions for how to build and run rippled 0.90.0 and higher on Ubuntu Linux. That's important, because rippled 0.90.0 must be compiled against the latest version of Boost, which now includes Vinnie Falco's Beast library (originally developed to use in rippled). There'll be more coming out in the coming days, including an article on another key 0.90.0 feature, history sharding. I can't give a specific release date for 0.90.0, but the feature set is final, as we're just now polishing up the details and ironing out the bugs. As per usual, it'll be out soon—when it's ready—and no sooner. P.S. if you want to try out Checks and Deposit Auth leading up to the release, they're already available for use on the Test Net.

You only need to know JavaScript to communicate with the XRP Ledger. Please share my latest blog entry with any of your developer friends - or others that might be interested! I'm actually learning about the MEAN framework as well, and I've been amazed at how easy it is to learn and code... I think this was yet another stroke of genius by Ripple to make the XRP Ledger more accessible to developers & builders! Its getting hot in here. A you can see with RCL's name change to XRP Ledger, We are entering the final phase. Think hard people, all we are waiting for is a fi, bank, or enterprise PARTNER OR CUSTOMER in a certain area to commence a trial of XRP transfer. Once they source it (purchase XRP), supply and demand, as well as sentiment will spike the price. Rinse, repeat with another partner, price spikes again. keep doing this until price is at very high levels to be able to accommodate huge transfers. As an example, India receives 69Bn a year in remittances from its workers living abroad (retail). At current prices It would take all of the crypto to accommodate these transfers. But one day when the price of one XRP is $____, XRP will be able to handle it. This is 1 country...Has your head exploded yet? Remwmber, our purchases are tiny in comparison to what the banks, etc, will be sourcing. Remember again, our crypro has a specific use case. it was always meant for them. We just get to tag along on the ride of our lives. all my opinion, invest at your own risk. Do your own due diligence. Dont invest what you cant afford to lose. I could be wrong. BUT I COULD BE VERY, VERY, RIGHT https://ripple.com/insights/ripple-continues-to-bring-internet-of-value-to-life-new-features-increase-transaction-throughput-to-same-level-as-visa/

You may have seen this already, however, I completely missed it... In the "Nine things you need to know about XRP" article Ripple has stated in item #9 that XRP is easy to buy. https://ripple.com/insights/nine-things-need-know-xrp/ There is a link to the Ripple web site embedded in item #9 https://ripple.com/xrp/buy-xrp/https://ripple.com/xrp/buy-xrp/ I went to that site and I was pleasantly surprised to find that Ripple has identified 13 XRP exchanges. The two I had not seen before was SBI Virtual Currencies (coming soon) http://www.sbivc.co.jp/ AND Satoshi Citadel (coming soon) http://sci.ph/about.html *** This means that 2 new exchanges in Japan and the Philippines will be coming on-line soon which should really help with liquidity (11 exchanges are already in production). What is super exciting about this is that the SBI Virtual Currencies exchange I expect will directly support the SBI group group of Japanese banks that are implementing the Ripple solution. In my mind this confirms that the SBI group is implementing the XRP ledger and XRP digital asset. I was originally a bit concerned that the SBI group might be implementing the ILP and not using the XRP ledger/XRP coin.
