  1. Here is one possible scenario (I consider it to be on the conservative side) of how volume may be impacted by Xpring and Coil: TLDR: I think, conservatively, the daily volume of XRP should plateau at *some* level above $270 billion? Note: I am definitely not an expert, so all the usual caveats apply - also, if you think I'm missing something - good or bad, let me know. I put most of my assumptions in the notes underneath each pie chart. Disclaimer: I am not affiliated with Ripple (the company) I am also NOT qualified to be giving any investment advice whatsoever. Before making any investment – especially in the volatile world of cryptocurrency, I urge you to consult with a professional. Also, even though I am personally very pro-XRP and believe in its potential, I do not know what the future will bring for XRP price – please invest at your own risk and always Do Your Own Research (DYOR) Thanks and please leave any feedback below. -Hodor
  2. XRP is the undisputed best choice for 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠-𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐦 𝐢𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬. In today's blog, I discuss the reasons behind Ripple targeting the non-banking market, as well as what it means for their long term strategy. Then, I connect the dots for you and show one possible outcome in a 𝙨𝙘𝙚𝙣𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙤 𝙖𝙣𝙖𝙡𝙮𝙨𝙞𝙨 stretching to 2021. The blog covers exactly what Xpring and Coil mean for XRP owners, and what to expect in terms of additional liquidity and when we *might* see utility-driven demand take over the network. 3. In today's blog, the retrospective of XRP and Ripple finishes with a closer look at our prior year, 2017. We've come a long way, and 2017 demonstrates that in spades. This blog will cover key code updates for XRP, the controv ersial topic of anonymous payments, community promotions, and XRP's own version of the "Bitcoin Pizza Guy," which is known more as the "XRP Jacket Guy." (He knows who he is!) And for those of you that are new, I wax nostalgic about the old RippleTrade wallet - something only fellow XRP veterans will appreciate. No retelling of 2017 for Ripple and XRP would be complete without discussing SWELL and the Central Bank Summit on Blockchain hosted by Ripple. 4. My history of Ripple continues through the years of 2014-2016; It covers the dramatic news stories you may have heard about, Ripple's steady progress in development, their pivot away from Codius, and the birth of Interledger. The controversial topics like XRP allocation and organization shake-ups are not ignored; read through it and provide your own perspective if you were around (in crypto land) during that time frame. Of course, extra points if you work (or previously worked) for Ripple! Hope you enjoy! Please leave any feedback below. 5. Volume is very very low. Only 350 million worldwide and without Asia only 150 million. Demand is very low right now, but that was to be expected. Which such low demand and still strong support around 90 cents is pretty good sign. Once volume kicks in we could start jumping again. Maybe with CNY almost over and when the whales see they can't get people to panic sell like a few weeks ago, maybe we will slightly see greener and greener days ahead. Stay positive guys and keep it up

    Happy new year

It looks like chinese new year has had a drastic effect on market volume today. This is a screenshot of when the volume is usually at its peak.
  7. newbie here ... I've been watching XRP for about 6 months and I believe this is the first time that it is coming close to the volume of BTC. On Bitstamp this morning XRP is #2 and #3 which together appears to be more than #1. I'm thinking this is the start of a great trend for XRP. Q: Is this really the first time XRP is giving BTC some competition on an exchange like Bitstamp?
  8. The volume for XRP set some interesting records in the last two days. Our 24 hour number on coinmarket cap? Just a few dollars shy of 10 billion. 10 billion. That was a mark set by Bitcoin ~ one-two months ago. We are quickly catching up to Bitcoin, and I predict we might surpass it soon. ™

    24hr volume speasks for itself

Hi all, Being a veteran on stocks, futures, forex (and perhaps I should even say: XRP ;-) ... I know for a fact that price increase by itself isn't deciding - it's all about VOLUME too. Well, that is: if you are looking at the sustainability of a trend. Happy to see: XRP rules pretty much over the past 24 hours. Source: https://www.cryptocompare.com/coins/#/btc (etc.) Here's a quick recap (just looking at the top 4 positions) : XRP/BTC: 1 XRP/USD: 2 XRP/ETH: 1 XRP/EUR: 1 XRP/GBP: - XRP/JPY: - XRP/KWR: 1 So the Brits (Brexit) and the Japanese (ever stagnatiing economy) we still need to convince, I guess ;-) But in general, this bodes well for XRP. Very well. For now I'm fine with some retracement & cooling down a tad. Totally fine since it's been VERY wild this month. Just look at @Hodor latest blog article (other thread) to see what we may be seeing happening for XRP. Have a great New Year, let the fireworks continue in 2018!
  10. It's time. We are going to take over #1 in 2018.Don't believe me? You think it's hyperbole? Read my blog post and decide for yourself if my logic makes sense. I chart the path that I think is actually most likely for 2018, and it may lead to some surprises in crypto by year-end. Hope you enjoy the read! Please leave all comments below. 12. This blog entry from SaveOnSend discusses the 'big picture' of money transfer, including the perceptions and actions of retail bank customers in the C2C remittance space, the importance of money transfer relative to other sources of bank revenue, and the potential scope for innovation by MTOs / fintech disruptors. Banks and Money Transfer: Sleeping Giants? Excerpt from blog post (italics/bold mine):
  13. Pre-SWELL the volume XRP/KRW used to be something along the lines of 70% to 75%. During the SWELL, same story (if I recall correctly). Now XRP/KRW accounts for approx. 50% of the total trading volume (160M/24h, could be higher for sure). IMHO this could indicate that XRP could be gaining attention on other markets too (than just the infamous speculative Korea). https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/ripple/#markets Or this could just be temporary/wishful thinking. Thoughts?

    BitStamp Volume cease

Anybody have idea of what is going on on Bitstamp?!?!?!?!? Their volume dropped from almost 5mil a few days ago to under 10k today...
  15. Once again, any time an event occurs that causes large volumes, the site goes down. Most unfortunate...
  16. Hello all, I noticed that yesterday 2th of june there was a big spike in the 'payment volume'. Same as 8th of may and 17th of may. See at: https://xrpcharts.ripple.com/#/history These where also pricejumps that same days at $0,2140, $0,3900 and $ 0,3300. It looks like the xrp 'payments' are increasing drastically since april this year. Is this banks and institutions using XRP or what is it? Who is 'paying' with XRP? And what causes these enormous spikes at a sudden?
  17. https://xrpcharts.ripple.com/#/history Range: 1 Month Interval: Day The payment volume is appearing to dwarf the exchange volume on the RCL, and the trend seems to be increasing quickly. If somebody else knows the code behind xrpcharts for this particular visualization, let me know if I'm interpreting this correctly. If I'm right, this means that the RCL is being used for payments even more so than exchanges. One question I have is, what qualifies as a "payment" on the RCL as far as xrpcharts is concerned? I'd also like an example of what counts as an "exchange". If we can interpret some of these numbers better, it will assist in tracking adoption progress day-to-day. Keep Calm, and Hodor!
  18. I Always Start with Bitcoin The history of Bitcoin price has been studied numerous times and expounded upon by academics and technical analysts alike. I would wager that very few original holders of this crypto-coin had the wherewithal to hang onto their holdings through all of it's pricing trials and tribulations. Here's what that chaotic price chart looks like when we zoom out to a multi-year view since Bitcoin's inception: (source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bitcoin#Price_and_volatility ) Notice in the above diagram the inverse correlation between volatility and liquidity. This seems like a fairly well-established relationship, or at least correlation, if not causation. If the same holds true for XRP, we can expect to see a decrease in volatility over time as the liquidity and trading of XRP increases, and supply can change hands faster with greater volume. BTC Price Chaos Nobody knew what to expect from Bitcoin. Was the cryptography sound? Would people abandon it as a passing novelty or fad like the Rubik's cube? That uncertainty led to massive volatility in its early days. Here is a short synopsis for those that don't already know it (Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bitcoin#Price_and_volatility ): What to Expect from XRP? Here's where I take you out into "speculation" land, a land that is rife with armchair experts (like me). XRP Prices have risen rapidly in the past two months. Here is what a raw price chart looks like (Data Source: https://www.cryptocompare.com/coins/xrp/charts/USD?p=3M ) : A straight line, absent today's pullback, draws a fairly consistent trend. As I'm sure trained technical analysts would tell you, we also need to consider other variables like volume. Here's a somewhat revealing volume picture of the trend over the last week (source https://xrpcharts.ripple.com/#/history ): Notice the ever-increasing raw dollar volume across all worldwide exchanges each day... leading to the present moment. Are you ready to see the dancing bananas again? I am.

    Payment Network Volume

Does anyone have any idea as to why the ripple network payment volume might be so high today - $760mm? Also, is there still a way to see how much XRP is in circulation? Looks like that info was taken down. I'm curious if this volume indicates additional xrp being distributed.
  20. I noticed today that Bitstamp USD/XRP was nearly 50% of trading volume (47%). Usually the USD/XRP pair as a whole hovers around 30% plus or minus. With the rise in BTC price I was expecting to see BTC as a larger portion of trading volume like we've seen during the Polo pumps, but it was a boring 13% (over 30% when Polo decides to give XRP attention). The high proportion of Bitstamp XRP/USD trading led me to wonder how volume is trending for the pair overall (also makes me wonder if there's lots of USD buying while others look the other way). As you can see in the graph below, Bitstamp USD/XRP volume jumped from 220M XRP in October 2015 to over 2.5B XRP in 2016, over a 1000% increase. It's easy to get bogged down when we see other coins in the spotlight and price of XRP dropping on fantastic news, but that fact alone should be an eye opener. Hang on tight (and buy the dip), because I think we're sitting on a rocket.
