Hi all, So I've been talking to quite a good few on here from the UK via messages so I thought I would start a UK based club so we can ask questions and share answers on things that would be relevant to our borders such as taxes and other related items to XRP. Because we're such a smaller group of hodlers our posts/questions seem to get rushed along without getting noticed so I thought I would start here. All those who are x-pats also please feel free to come over and join in. B.

Obviously the main aim of the game for everyone here is to buy low, sell high and walk away with full pockets. I for one am a little clueless about how crypto profits are treated in the UK. I did hear one person suggest that currently they are treated as gambling wins, and therefore tax free (which would be b-e-a-utiful) however I do have a feeling they don't fall into that gategory and will be subject to capital gains tax. Does anyone happen to have any first hand experience in this matter? Or maybe know of any handy resources. I will most likely speak to my financial adviser when the time comes, but it never hurts to be ahead of the game.

Hi everyone, I often get the feeling that UK members are a minority on XRPCHAT, so I have decided to create a UK Hodlers group where we can post information and discuss everything XRP related which may be of most interest to other UK Hodlers. Please feel free to invite all those who you know are from the UK, or who would benefit from being a member here.

I wanted to post this in the press section or General Discussion, but the rules state that there has to be a mention of Ripple/XRP. Hey Guys, See the attachment and link below. Not sure if this is Ripple Labs, Inc. or not, but less than two months ago, someone filed for and created a private entity in England called "Ripple Labs Ltd," and the nature of this business is "central banks." It is probable that this paperwork was filed by a 3rd party on behalf of a company in order for that company to start doing business in England. Can anyone from England or that area of the world shed some light on this here, on forming a business/entity in England? Would love to learn more about that, if possible. Remember that last year, Ripple Labs, Inc. started working with the Central Bank of England in a proof-of-concept (PoC in July 2017; entity paperwork filed in 2018). Also remember the U.S. Federal Reserve Task Force for Faster Payments has been working with Ripple Labs, Inc. as well, and less than 3 months ago, Ripple Labs, Inc. filed for and created an entity in Massachusetts in order to start doing business in that state, presumably Boston (PoC from 2015-2017; entity paperwork filed in 2017). https://www.xrpchat.com/topic/19980-ripple-labs-massachusetts/ The U.S. Federal Reserve has a branch in Boston, Massachusetts. Thoughts? Sure, it's speculation, but this is very interesting. Either way, my project over the next few weeks is going to be searching for similar patterns in the public records all around the world. I believe that these types of public filings are shedding light on Ripple's activities, specifically, central bank adoption. https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/11151513 cc: @Snoopy @Pablo @zerpdigger @xrping

Yes that's right another tax topic. I feel we really need to start drilling down on how to avoid our nefarious tax obligations. Similar to the world's global corporations - why should the little guy pay? Anyway I`m UK based and so I was pondering the following way to weasel out of paying my unfair share: I purchase XRP @ £0.02 I gift 100k XRP to friend - under inheritance tax laws if I survive 7 years then no tax is liable on gifts from my estate. Friend sells XRP @ £10 per XRP. They have no capital gains tax to pay as they never purchased the XRPs in the first place. Friend gifts £1million back to me - again under inheritance tax laws then if they survive 7 years no tax is liable on gifts from their estate. Any tax accountants out there want to tell me why this doesn't work or does anyone have a better grasp on it that me? Nothing better than getting tax advice on an internet forum. I will of course approach a real accountant when the time comes.

I have read all sorts of horror stories about bank accounts being closed by Banks in the UK. Is there any bank in the UK what will let me do SEPA Transfer from Bitstamp? Its ok having all the gains but if can not spend some it seams pointless!

Earthport has long been an early adopter of Ripple/ XRP. This looks like an important date: "Of course, the regulatory environment continues to influence the shape of the market and the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA)[ regulatory body in the UK] is looking at distributed ledger technology/blockchain and has invited feedback on the subject with a deadline of 17 July." https://www.earthport.com/news-insights/insights-blog/payments-eye-roundup-news-ideas/ Ironic Earthport is almost the same price as XRP [Earthport plc (EPCUF) on the OTC, 0.320.00 (0.00 %) As of May 31 9:30AM EDT.]
