  1. HOW TO ACTIVATE A RIPPLE WALLET Hello, this topic is meant to be a guide for those seeking for account activation. Updates, suggestions and feedback about activation providers are very welcome. There are several ways to activate a ripple wallet Bithomp https://bithomp.com/activation/ Payment Methods PayPal Bitcoin Perfect Money Shapeshift https://shapeshift.io/#/coins Payment Methods Cryptocurrencies Changelly https://changelly.com/ Payment Methods Cryptocurrencies Credit Card (USD) Your Service Here ... ... IDEAL INITIAL AMOUNT = 50 XRP 20 XRP for base reserve 10 XRP for 2 trustlines 10 XRP for fisrt orders and fees 10 XRP for test trading ref: https://ripple.com/build/reserves/ DISCLAIMER Do your homework before using a service and make an educated choice.
  2. Reserve not included in the XRP balance. It's really unintuitive to have the reserve included in the XRP balance when it's not actually usable. PROS: Intuitive. CONS: Easier said than done. In addition, Transaction Fees to be taken from the Reserve. PROS: It would allow accounts to be much more easily read and audited (at least from a human's perspective). A lot of transactions become awkward when you need to take the transaction fee into account. Nice, clean, integer amounts become unwieldy. e.g.100 XRP - 20 XRP - 0.000012 XRP FEE = 79.999988 XRP vs 80 XRP - 20 XRP = 60 XRP (and a hidden reserve balance of 19.999988). Since transaction fees are so low, the average user will never need to worry about their transaction fee ever again. At today's fee of 0.000012, your 20 XRP reserve would be enough for 1,666,666 transactions. Even if the fee increases you're still unlikely to run out unless you're a large organisation. Takes a little of shine off of the DAG coins (e.g. Nano). Wallet software designed for public use could probably get away with hiding the fee section of the transaction altogether. Feeless might be best, but so-cheap-and-easy-that-no-reasonable-person-would-care, is not far behind. FROM USER @Khaleesi: there would be less complaints about the Reserve being lost value. CONS: Again, easier said than done. I don't really know for sure, but I assume this would be a major change to the XRPL, requiring a huge effort to pull off. It would also need a new transaction type for recharging the reserve when it runs out. FROM USER @Dario_o : It makes it cheaper for a dedicated spammer to spam the network. Since they were going to pay the 20 XRP in fees anyway, they essentially get the account for free. EDIT: I think these changes are objectively better than the status quo but it's probably far too late in the game to be making complicated changes like this.
  3. Hello. I have my ripple address stored in my Ripple Desktop Wallet. The Ripple Desktop Wallet is going to be discontinued soon and I want to move my ripples (or the address and codes, however the hell it works) to a toast wallet. I am wondering if anyone can assist me with this? I do not want to setup a new wallet in toast as I don't want to burn another 20 XRP in the reserve. I want to just associate my current address to Toast. Is this possible? How do I do this exactly? I am not sure if I am correct or not but I understand that the ripples are not held in my wallets but rather the keys to my ripples, am I correct? If this is the case than I would assume that I can just simply house my keys in a different wallet and not pay another reserve and set up a brand new address? Thanks
  4. Hi, In my toast wallet I have 21 xrp , it is possible to send all 21 xrp to an other wallet? (sorry for the question but I am a new user ) thanks a lot
  5. Hello, Brand new in here. This is my first post/question. I have the reserver of 20 XRP in a ripple wallet. It is not my primary wallet. I have moved all assets from this wallet to my primary wallet (except 20 XRP). If I delete this wallet do I loose the 20 XRP? What happens to them? Thanks!
  6. Hello everyone, new member here after a month or two of lurking. As I've been exploring the forum and learning all I can, I've been unable to find an answer to the original question that brought me here, which is this - how can someone new to Cryptocurrency investing establish an XRP position quickly via one of the exchanges (Kraken, Poloniex, etc.) without having reserve requirements eat into my overall investment? Allow me to clarify... I would like to purchase XRP for long term cold storage utilizing a Nano Ledger S, which I ordered a couple weeks back and am still waiting for it to arrive. In the meantime, I've missed some pretty large moves in XRP (from $0.42 to current price, bummer!) and am starting to get antsy about my entry position. When the Nano does arrive, 20 XRP will be needed to reserve the wallet address, and preferably that's the only XRP reserve I will ever need unless I want to move XRP to a hot/mobile wallet for transactions. The problem is understanding the various wallets I might need during my XRP investment journey, while limiting the amount of investment lost to reserve requirements. Now that a single wallet costs over $20 USD to setup, this becomes a much larger concern for someone just starting out. Understanding the security risk, is it reasonable to keep an initial investment on an exchange (Kraken, Poloniex, etc.) for a week or two until my cold wallet arrives? Is there utility in setting up a toast wallet for initial storage, and then sending the XRP to the cold wallet when it arrives? Would I have future use for the toast wallet? In general, how many wallets do folks use to manage their XRP investment? Thanks everyone in advance for your thoughts and suggestions, and I apologize if this is addressed somewhere I was unable to locate. Cheers and best wishes to all! -PMF
  7. My first post here. Hello. I have searched and read many posts here and elsewhere about moving XRP from Ripple Wallet, etc to a Nano S or really just any different wallet. It seems like the 20 XRP reserve is a real sticking point. I understand that the 20 XRP reserve is required to keep an account active but what if I do not want to old account to remain active? I would like to transfer/move/export/send ALL of my XRP that is in the Ripple Wallet (including the reserve) to my Nano S. Then, close/delete the original Ripple Wallet account, etc. I just want all of my XRP in one place for now. I am still relatively new to all of this as many of you may be as well. So apologies if I am missing some key difference between XRP and most other cryptos. But as it stands, the reserve seems like a way for Ripple to essentially lock you in to your first wallet/account and potentially keep those funds locked up forever? Maybe I am missing something. Maybe there is a way to associate my Ripple Wallet account with my Nano S Ripple Wallet and have all of the funds be available? Thank you in advance for any help.
  8. So I found in a discussion where someone linked an article (and I think link was broken) but the individual referenced statistics in the article, alleging that an insane amount of money is moved by the fed, treasure etc every month....for the life of me I can not find the thread, I've tried going through my history link by link and no dice.... This is in an effort to better understand the market cap #'s and better estimate what a mature XRP value might be. help? TIA, Chris from Texas
