  1. This is what many have been waiting for from Ledger. Looks like they FINALLY have got their act together: Ledger Manager Additionally, Ledger is working on a new version of the Ledger Manager platform. We’ll shortly move to a web based solution involving direct USB communication without the need to install any extension. https://www.ledger.fr/2018/02/23/announcing-new-ledger-wallet-desktop-mobile-applications/
  2. I ask out of curiosity.. Can you actually see the receiving address on the tiny screen on the Nano S itself? After the whole Nano S security issue with the Chrome App and Man in the Middle problem, Ledger released that PR stating, "You must verify the receiving address by displaying it on your device." But then they go on to say, "..computers cannot be considered secure, and therefore you cannot trust what you see on the screen." So if you cant trust what you see on your computer.... are they saying you can actually see the long receiving address on the physical USB Nano itself? How could you see such a long address on such a tiny screen? What do they mean by, "..your device"? Your Nano? Your computer screen? My question stems from semi-poor translation into English from the Ledger team: ..."than the one displayed"...? what does that even mean. Displayed where? https://support.ledgerwallet.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000641713
  3. How can I import my existing wallet onto the ledger nano s? note: I do not want to transfer XRP from my existing wallet to a new wallet on the ledger nano S. All help appreciated. I don't want more than one wallet, I just want to access my existing wallet on the ledger nano S.
  4. Is the chrome app still safe to download from the google chrome store seeing google is going away with apps soon? i read somewhere the app is no longer available, but i see it there. and if you could... i heard the Nano has a new update: 1.4 does this new update allow the Receive address to be seen scrolling across the Nano S screen?
  5. im hearing two worlds clash regarding the Nano. Some people say it doesnt matter if the computer the nano is plugged into has a virus because the nano protects itself other people say to only plug it into a computer which has never been online 'for optimal safety'. if the nano is so secure ,why worry about getting a computer never connected to the internet?
  6. I will be able to figure it out eventually, but am having some difficulty understand how to transfer from Bitstamp to XRP. Ive read a number of posts here stating the Nano does not have to be hooked up to the internet, yet no one has explained how this is possible. I know I need to download the Chrome extension, set up the Nano, make the 24 word seed, etc etc. But when actually ready to transfer, do I log into Bitstamp first to start the process? Thanks
  7. Dear Fellow Ripplers and Crypto Experts, Can someone please help me by providing DETAILED step-by-step advice on the following?: 1.) What is the SAFEST way to transfer XRP from a Paper Wallet (Cold Storage) to Ledger Nano S WITHOUT EXPOSING my private key/s on the internet? This is my goal. 2.) Am I able to transfer XRP directly from the paper wallet (cold storage) to the Ledger Nano S OR will I be required to transfer the XRP to an intermediary desktop wallet first (such as RIPPEX or TOAST) and then transfer XRP from the intermediary wallet (such as RIPPEX or TOAST) to Ledger Nano S? FYI: I am not interested in using a hosted wallet such as Gatehub. 3.) Assuming that I need to transfer to an intermediary desktop wallet first (such as Rippex or Toast), is there a way to accomplish this WITHOUT EXPOSING my private key/s on the internet? If so, how? 4.) When transferring XRP from a paper wallet to a desktop wallet (such as Rippex or Toast), will my original paper wallet keys (public and private) stay the same or will the desktop wallet provide new keys? Also, when transferring XRP from a desktop wallet (such as Rippex or Toast) to the Ledger Nano S, will my keys (public and private) change again or will they remain the same? I searched online and the tutorials but could not find exactly what I'm looking for. Your assistance will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help.
  8. We all know of the Nano, and how the keys are stored on it, but im slightly confused. You have your receive address when putting XRP on the nano FROM an exchange. You have your send address when putting XRP from the nano ONTO an exchange. but... is the 'send' address your key? What exactly does your 'key' look like? On the Nano, you have 24 word seed to recover but... do you ever actually 'see' a string of letters and numbers representing a 'key'? I ask because when you make a physical paper wallet... does that have a 'key' printed out on it?
  9. A bunch of Nano coin owners (formerly RaiBlocks / XRB) stored their coins over at BitGrail exchange, and just lost ~17 million XRB due to a "hack." This is worth between $175 - $200 million. https://bitgrail.com/news https://medium.com/@nanocurrency/official-statement-regrading-bitgrail-insolvency-ed4422bf274b
  10. Another topic lead me to ask this here so that interested people may participate: (im not doubting the Nano.. im seriously interested to see why its so secure or not) In order to use the Nano safely, you need to download the update to 1.3.1 BUT.. whose to say the update isnt compromised? or that the website you download it from isnt a fake website? or that the Ledger Manager wasnt compromised? The Ledger Manager is just a program found on https://chrome.google.com... so we have to trust chrome??? Could, theoretically, the Nano UPDATE be corrupted with a virus and therefor render the Nano unsafe? To conclude my ramblings... if the Nano is so secure... why need updates in the first place? if its secure.. updates would be like putting a band aid on healthy skin.
  11. Hi Guys. I am unable to send xrp from Nano S to an exchange. I am getting error message 'unexpected error occurred'. After doing a bit of research on Nano Ledger website's FAQ it happens when Ripple network is congested! error log : {"resultCode":"tefMAX_LEDGER","resultMessage":"Ledger sequence too high."} 2017-12-13T01:32:57.004Z E/Global: java.lang.Exception: Network timed out 2017-12-13T01:32:57.011Z I am assuming alot of people are panic selling and transferring zerps from offline wallets to exchanges. My question is when XRP would reach mass scale adoption how will Ripple will handle it ?

  15. Dear Friends and Hodlers; I have 2 questions regarding Ledger Nano S wallet device: 1- What happens when the coin pays dividend? As I am both XLM and XRP hodler, yesterday I noticed my Lumens (XLM) amount had increased. I thought maybe it was supplied more to the market and hodl'ers got more of XLM. I have also experienced that one in Bitcoin Cash. That time I had some amount (less than one ) BTC and I received Bitcoin Cash (BCH) depending on my BTCs... 2- What should I do, not to end up like the guy 'Man’s Life Savings Stolen from Hardware Wallet Supplied by a Reseller' Thanks and Regards for all your comments
  16. Hi All First post, lurking a long time... Thanks for all the encouragement since hopping into XRP awhile back - really liking the community and info on this board. Figured I'd add something useful to anyone with a Nano Ledger S. I've never liked the fragile nature of the micro USB port on it - worried I'll break it one day, so I decided to try a magnetic USB connector retrofit... and it works great so far. (**I have no connection to this co, BTW - just wanted to pay something forward for all the great posters here) if you have the Nano, you just need the usb kit - much cheaper than buying it already modded ;] Minty Nano Thanks again!
  17. Hi forum, Newbi here. I wanted to ask you guys some advice. basically, i want to start purchasing crypto mainly ripple XRP and some bitcoin at a later date. The problem i'm having is actually buying the XRP. I tried gatehub but get bad token when trying to activate the account ( been trying for 1 day ) no luck. I was recommended to use bitstamp. question i have is bitstamp the best place to simply buy xrp and send straight to my Ledger wallet? I have purchased a ledger nano, but for the life of me cant seem to find anywhere to buy ripple simply. also, one more question. do i pay 20 xrp for every wallet? i mean, can i purchase XRP without securing a wallet and use my nano, hope that makes sense apologies if this question has been asked already, i have tried finding answers but don't see anywhere that recommends a simple process of buying ripple and sending straight to my nano wallet. thanks in advance Rd
  18. i dont use the nano but am interested in understand the issue. Many people complain about the 20 XRP minimum required to activate a wallet, but why not just transfer your XRP to a nano and be done with it. theres no fee to use the nano, right? (besides having to buy it first)
  19. Hello everyone, new member here after a month or two of lurking. As I've been exploring the forum and learning all I can, I've been unable to find an answer to the original question that brought me here, which is this - how can someone new to Cryptocurrency investing establish an XRP position quickly via one of the exchanges (Kraken, Poloniex, etc.) without having reserve requirements eat into my overall investment? Allow me to clarify... I would like to purchase XRP for long term cold storage utilizing a Nano Ledger S, which I ordered a couple weeks back and am still waiting for it to arrive. In the meantime, I've missed some pretty large moves in XRP (from $0.42 to current price, bummer!) and am starting to get antsy about my entry position. When the Nano does arrive, 20 XRP will be needed to reserve the wallet address, and preferably that's the only XRP reserve I will ever need unless I want to move XRP to a hot/mobile wallet for transactions. The problem is understanding the various wallets I might need during my XRP investment journey, while limiting the amount of investment lost to reserve requirements. Now that a single wallet costs over $20 USD to setup, this becomes a much larger concern for someone just starting out. Understanding the security risk, is it reasonable to keep an initial investment on an exchange (Kraken, Poloniex, etc.) for a week or two until my cold wallet arrives? Is there utility in setting up a toast wallet for initial storage, and then sending the XRP to the cold wallet when it arrives? Would I have future use for the toast wallet? In general, how many wallets do folks use to manage their XRP investment? Thanks everyone in advance for your thoughts and suggestions, and I apologize if this is addressed somewhere I was unable to locate. Cheers and best wishes to all! -PMF
  20. My question is.. I read you can use your nano even on a computer not connected to the internet. How is this possible?? I cant figure it out. How can you transfer XRP from an exchange.. to your Nano.. when the computer its plugged into.. isnt on the internet?? Thanks
  21. If you lose your Ledger Nano S or the device breaks.. all fine and well.. just use your 24 word recovery to install your XRP on a new Nano S. Sounds great.. but the thing which stumps me is... once you use your 24 word recovery on a new device... how does that new device interpret those 24 words and install the correct amount of XRPs on that new device?? It's not like the word 'Hotdog' represents '10 XRP'. I cant figure it out. We have our nano to store our XRPs.. Check. We have our 24 word phrase in case we have to recover those XRPs.. Check. But once our Nano breaks or gets lost... where does the association between 24 word and our XRPs come into play?? If you own 10,000 XRPs and your Nano breaks, how does the new Nano figure out that your 24 random words meant '10,000 XRPs'??
  22. Hey folks, could you please explain me why nano ledger is safe, if yes, is there a tutorial how to use it ? Best.
