  1. I bought a new Nano S and I did a reset recovery with my 24 word phrase and my XRP balance is showing $0, however when I check my address in XRP Scan I see my balance. How do I setup the Message Key for Flare without a Ledger wallet?
  2. Dear Fellow Ripplers and Crypto Experts, Can someone please help me by providing DETAILED step-by-step advice on the following?: 1.) What is the SAFEST way to transfer XRP from a Paper Wallet (Cold Storage) to Ledger Nano S WITHOUT EXPOSING my private key/s on the internet? This is my goal. 2.) Am I able to transfer XRP directly from the paper wallet (cold storage) to the Ledger Nano S OR will I be required to transfer the XRP to an intermediary desktop wallet first (such as RIPPEX or TOAST) and then transfer XRP from the intermediary wallet (such as RIPPEX or TOAST) to Ledger Nano S? FYI: I am not interested in using a hosted wallet such as Gatehub. 3.) Assuming that I need to transfer to an intermediary desktop wallet first (such as Rippex or Toast), is there a way to accomplish this WITHOUT EXPOSING my private key/s on the internet? If so, how? 4.) When transferring XRP from a paper wallet to a desktop wallet (such as Rippex or Toast), will my original paper wallet keys (public and private) stay the same or will the desktop wallet provide new keys? Also, when transferring XRP from a desktop wallet (such as Rippex or Toast) to the Ledger Nano S, will my keys (public and private) change again or will they remain the same? I searched online and the tutorials but could not find exactly what I'm looking for. Your assistance will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help.
  3. Dear Friends and Hodlers; I have 2 questions regarding Ledger Nano S wallet device: 1- What happens when the coin pays dividend? As I am both XLM and XRP hodler, yesterday I noticed my Lumens (XLM) amount had increased. I thought maybe it was supplied more to the market and hodl'ers got more of XLM. I have also experienced that one in Bitcoin Cash. That time I had some amount (less than one ) BTC and I received Bitcoin Cash (BCH) depending on my BTCs... 2- What should I do, not to end up like the guy 'Man’s Life Savings Stolen from Hardware Wallet Supplied by a Reseller' Thanks and Regards for all your comments
  4. Man in the Middle Redditor moodyrocket is coming to terms with having his “life savings” wiped out this week, after $34,000 of crypto was stolen from his newly acquired Nano Ledger hardware wallet. The device was compromised, not due to any flaws in its design, but thanks to a man in the middle attack that saw the reseller insert their own recovery seed. The buyer then unwittingly began using the wallet, unaware that the default seed they were using had not been randomly assigned by the manufacturer. He explained: I have not used my Ledger in a week, today I decide to check the value of my XRP, Litecoin and Dash only to discover that all of them showed up as zero and had been transferred somewhere else yesterday all around the same time at 7:30pm. I am not sure how this is possible as I have not access my Ledger in a week. The victim was initially confused as to how the attack could have been successfully pulled off, before eventually twigging that the Ebay seller must have tampered with the device. After sharing his story on Reddit, Ledger reached out to moodyrocket and encouraged him to report the crime to “bring the eBay seller to justice”. The fraudulent documentation that came with the wallet. An Elaborate Hoax The odds of the British-based victim getting his cryptocurrency back are remote, but his loss can at least be the community’s gain. The widespread attention the tale has received serves to highlight the dangers to anyone considering purchasing a hardware wallet from a third party. Auction sites, unaffiliated vendors, and merchants who have no formal partnership with wallet manufacturers should all be avoided. This sheet should not come with your Ledger wallet. The vast majority of resellers stocking wallets such as Ledgers and Trezors have no intention of meddling with the devices. But it only takes one unscrupulous entity to interfere with a wallet and pass it on to the unsuspecting buyer. The Ebay seller who duped moodyrocket had gone to great lengths to orchestrate the scam. The seed is meant to be generated by the device, but this purchase came with “scratch off” paper that revealed the seed. Despite the security of hardware devices themselves, the weakest link is always the people using them. Even a raft of anti-theft tech can’t atone for human error. Had the victim reset the device and created a new seed he would have been fine. When presented with convincingly forged documentation, though, he naturally felt safe in sticking with the default seed. Purchasing hardware wallets directly from the manufacturer may take longer and cost more, but the alternatives just aren’t worth it. 5. Before updating I wanted to know if anyone updated to 1.0.3 and experienced any technical problems? Any advice before updating? My paranoia of a glitch rises along with the price of XRP lol. Thx!
  6. Hi all, I am new to the forum. Been an xrp holder for a while though. I have been involved and am holding/ trading other cryptos as well so I have an understanding of this market etc. I had recently purchased a NANO S wallet where I set it up etc. I added ripple on the wallet did the whole 'shabang'. Today I had then decided after reading the forums- as well as taking note of the ripple wallet activation fee - that I was going to deposit a some of my ripple into the nano wallet for safe keeping. I had done so as well as the transaction said it went through from the exchange- I have used this exchange numerously and I have never had a problem. I went to my nano wallet opened it up and a big fat zero is still sitting there. I looked on bithomp and it says the address that I have still needs to be activated. Actions I have taken: 1. Sent a mail to ledger support 2. Currently the exchange I use are investigating the matter 3. Contemplating on activating my wallet through bithomp - not sure if I should. 4.Have restarted and reinstalled the xrp app 5. Restarted my pc Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
  7. This week I setup my Ledger Nano S and within 2 minutes memorized the 24 recovery words using a technique which I once read about in a book about how memory works. I thought it would be nice to share this technique with you. It is a great way to impress people at birthday parties as well. Let someone compile a list of e.g. 30 random objects and read them out to you once after which you are able to recite the entire list from beginning to end or even the other way around. It is also possible to let them call a number (e.g. 12) and you tell them the twelfth word in the list. People will be impressed and assume you have some sort of photographic memory. The fact is everyone can do it and it requires minimal effort. Interested? Let’s get started. Most people when memorizing a list will do so by repeating the list over and over until it sticks which costs a lot of mental effort. The technique I am talking about uses another parts of the brain and is called the loci method. I is a very old technique and work by visual association which for our brains somehow requires very little mental effort. It consists of 2 steps. The first step is preparation which you have to do only the first time when you start using this technique. In your mind walk a few times through a location you know very well. For example the house where you grew up. In each room going from left to right (to make sure the order is always the same) mark 3 or 4 locations. For example in the living room you choose the bookshelf, the fireplace, the TV and the sofa. After that go to the next room. Make sure to use the same order every time. To make it even more impressive number the locations. Do this until you have like 30 locations (you could also do e.g. 50 if want to). Now the fun part. The second step. Each time an object is read out make a visual picture in your mind of that object in combination with a location you memorized in step 1 going through each of the locations. Each object a new location. So for example you are in the laundry room and someone mentions ‘elephant’. Your location is the washing machine. Make a mental picture of an elephant behind the glass in the washing machine. The more absurd the picture the better. Then say ok and let them mention the next object. Don’t try to remember the ‘elephant’ but just focus on making the next mental picture. That’s it. After they went through the entire list just walk the route in your mind. Laundry room, washing machine. You just see the ‘elephant’. To do the list in reverse just walk the route in the opposite order. Even two day later (without practicing) you will still see the ‘elephant’ in the washing machine. God gave us amazing brains. If you took the trouble to number your locations they can mention a number and you tell them the corresponding word. It is still surprising to me how little mental effort this takes. Just try it. It works. It’s nice at birthday parties. But you can also use it for your grocery list (just make sure you replace the elephant with e.g. broccoli) or for remembering the key points of your presentation. Back to the Ledger Nano S. I was a bit worried that it would not work so well because some of the 24 words are abstract making it more difficult to make a mental association. But actually it is doable. In one minute maybe two I memorized the entire list with very little effort. Try this at your own risk and don’t throw away the written note yet. But is nice that you can reproduce the 24 recovery words in case you somehow lost the note or you are not able to access it. Have fun!
  8. Is there a 'bonefied safe way' to update the firmware on a Ledger Nano S to not lose any BTC/ETH currently stored on the device? My XRP is currently stored on an online wallet and I'd love to move it to my Ledger Nano S, but I am afraid of losing the current firmware, and therefore losing my BTC/ETH stored on the device. Thanks for any insight.
  9. I know there was a similar topic on February, but there are not enough votes, if we could get together and send some votes we would be on top of their roadmap. What do you have to do? Register on https://trello.com/b/5nQ1mdzt/ledger-roadmap There is a rectangle on the left with a title "Ledger Blue and Nano S applications" Thumbs up and short comment Ripple support Done I have just received the information, that Monero people voted so high, that Monero will be implemented next week. I hope Ripple community won't be worst than them.
