"Step-aside" - worst XRP use case...?
RippleGambler posted a topic in Coil Posts and Fan Submissions
Blog URL: https://coil.com/p/MikeH/-Step-aside-peasant-newest-and-worst-XRP-use-case-/VJudy0gDU In my blog I talk about an idea I had whilst sat in traffic over Christmas. A subsequent bout of hangovers and illness even gave me the time to build it! I`ve seen a lot of bad ideas for XRP use cases, this is definitely one of them. XRP inspired me to take up coding and I now work as a junior software engineer at Jaguar Land Rover (after going through a boot camp). What's your worst XRP use case idea? Feel free to make fun of mine and the chaos it would cause on our roads! At least it could be international in nature.... Any questions then please feel free to ask. Thanks for reading. -
Hello, it has been awhile since I last posted to the forum. I hope everyone is doing well. I recently updated my Nano Ledger S with the latest firmware. When prompted to reconfigure or configure, I accidentally selected configure which led me down the path of selecting a new pin and recovery phrases. When I checked my account balance it showed 0. My question are as follows: 1. Do I just reconfigure using the original recovery phrases? Up to how many sets of recovery phrases can a Nano S Ledger have? Just one? Or multiple? I presume that I still can use the original set of recovery phrases for this ledger. I really hope so. I am very worried at the moment so I would greatly appreciate any feedback. Thank you.

How do you participate in the ledger on your computer?

I was looking into the ripple protocol. I got really confused regarding the roles of the gateways in the network. My questions specifically are-- 1. Suppose a person A has to send x amount of some currency he has into some other currency to person B. What are the exact steps that should be followed by A and what does the protocol exactly do the above transaction. What role does the gateways play in the above setting? 2. As gateways are the entities which bring in non XRP currencies into the XRP network. How exactly does it do that? 3. How can we distinguish between the transactions in a ledger version which are related to actions done in part-2 above ? I mean transactions that come in the network due to a gateway. Please provide any other information related to gateways which might be useful for understanding the above scenarios. Thankyou.

Just posting here for anyone interested. If you were ever wondering how the various moving parts of XRP's ledger work this sure is useful, even going back to the formation of Ripple Labs.

Hi, I participated in the ICO by Allvor and got some coins I now can trade within Gatehub. But are there any others? By just clicking on a few escrows-accounts I found out about JON, SCZ and BTR. But...is there a list of somesorts?

A fairly balanced and informative opinion piece, imo. But its lack of conclusion almost feels like the uncredited author must have been pulling their own teeth not to say too much. Still a good read. https://bitcoinschannel.com/is-the-xrp-ledger-more-decentralized-than-bitcoin-btc/

How can I import my existing wallet onto the ledger nano s? note: I do not want to transfer XRP from my existing wallet to a new wallet on the ledger nano S. All help appreciated. I don't want more than one wallet, I just want to access my existing wallet on the ledger nano S.

Dear Fellow Ripplers and Crypto Experts, Can someone please help me by providing DETAILED step-by-step advice on the following?: 1.) What is the SAFEST way to transfer XRP from a Paper Wallet (Cold Storage) to Ledger Nano S WITHOUT EXPOSING my private key/s on the internet? This is my goal. 2.) Am I able to transfer XRP directly from the paper wallet (cold storage) to the Ledger Nano S OR will I be required to transfer the XRP to an intermediary desktop wallet first (such as RIPPEX or TOAST) and then transfer XRP from the intermediary wallet (such as RIPPEX or TOAST) to Ledger Nano S? FYI: I am not interested in using a hosted wallet such as Gatehub. 3.) Assuming that I need to transfer to an intermediary desktop wallet first (such as Rippex or Toast), is there a way to accomplish this WITHOUT EXPOSING my private key/s on the internet? If so, how? 4.) When transferring XRP from a paper wallet to a desktop wallet (such as Rippex or Toast), will my original paper wallet keys (public and private) stay the same or will the desktop wallet provide new keys? Also, when transferring XRP from a desktop wallet (such as Rippex or Toast) to the Ledger Nano S, will my keys (public and private) change again or will they remain the same? I searched online and the tutorials but could not find exactly what I'm looking for. Your assistance will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help.

I just wanna keep this to the bare minimum, information wise, to get to the question I am asking.... I went through all of the steps to make my first purchase of XRP through Binance. I have successfully moved all my XRP from Binance to my Toast Wallet and have saved, in various formats, every bit of pin numbers, passwords, etc. I have my address and secret key most importantly. Hypothetically, can I delete Toast wallet from my device(s) and be able to access my XRP with the keys that I have?

Is it normal to see currency exchanges for example US to JPY or US to US in the ripple ledgers. I have been watching some of the transactions this evening, and most are XRP for US or XRP for other alt coins, but occasionally I spot a currency exchange like the one in the link below.. Is this evidence that the banks are doing live tests over the ripple blockchain? https://xrpcharts.ripple.com/#/transactions/E42E061BE8A013988941E188EF4228ED9ECAC027FC45DDA14EFEF182430975FD

Hi forum, Newbi here. I wanted to ask you guys some advice. basically, i want to start purchasing crypto mainly ripple XRP and some bitcoin at a later date. The problem i'm having is actually buying the XRP. I tried gatehub but get bad token when trying to activate the account ( been trying for 1 day ) no luck. I was recommended to use bitstamp. question i have is bitstamp the best place to simply buy xrp and send straight to my Ledger wallet? I have purchased a ledger nano, but for the life of me cant seem to find anywhere to buy ripple simply. also, one more question. do i pay 20 xrp for every wallet? i mean, can i purchase XRP without securing a wallet and use my nano, hope that makes sense apologies if this question has been asked already, i have tried finding answers but don't see anywhere that recommends a simple process of buying ripple and sending straight to my nano wallet. thanks in advance Rd

Here’s a neat little feed on Twitter that posts major transactions on the Ripple ledger. I think the minimum transaction it monitors is 5 million XRP. https://mobile.twitter.com/XRPL_Monitor

If you lose your Ledger Nano S or the device breaks.. all fine and well.. just use your 24 word recovery to install your XRP on a new Nano S. Sounds great.. but the thing which stumps me is... once you use your 24 word recovery on a new device... how does that new device interpret those 24 words and install the correct amount of XRPs on that new device?? It's not like the word 'Hotdog' represents '10 XRP'. I cant figure it out. We have our nano to store our XRPs.. Check. We have our 24 word phrase in case we have to recover those XRPs.. Check. But once our Nano breaks or gets lost... where does the association between 24 word and our XRPs come into play?? If you own 10,000 XRPs and your Nano breaks, how does the new Nano figure out that your 24 random words meant '10,000 XRPs'??

I made an exchange today from xrp to btc. It all seemed to go ok. I then tried to send the btc to bittrex. It was an amount of .41 btc. I hit send and my xrp fell to 49.997(not sure if this is the issue). The result was the balance in my account is now $0 and nothing shows up on BitTrex. The transaction does not even show up anywhere on gatehub, nor does it show up on the LEDGER! Its completely vanished! This was at around 1p. It is now 5p and support has not responded, even though it says they received the message, I do not have a hash for the transaction because the transaction vanished. On the support form it says hash REQUIRED. So all I can conclude at this point is that I am completely screwed. I cant believe it just disappeared like that. Not to be found anywhere. Something shady is going on with Gatehub. I cant believe it would be coded this way to erase everything if xrp falls below 50xrp? What can I do? Support is ignoring me... Has anyone else had coins disappear on Gatehub without a trace. What did you do?
