  1. https://medium.com/interledger-blog/chat-over-your-payment-network-with-ilrc-df402954e10b An interesting usage of Interledger. """ Although ILRC is just an experiment, you can use the same techniques to create powerful applications on top of Interledger. """
  2. Edit: I don't believe Global ID was used, but was discussed. Wanted to clarify that but the title was getting lengthy. Found this video with all sorts of nuggets in it. Thank you @enej! 2:35 - The transaction 10:00 - Enej thinks Ripple will not be used for everyday transactions, but will be utilized primarily for settlement 13:25 - a REAL market maker, albeit a small one. They really do exist! 14:20 - Liquidity "chicken and egg" question 18:10 - MyGlobalID insight. I think I understood why this was such a big deal, but now I really get it. 19:50 - Gatehub investor mentioned. Was it "Greg Kit"? I can't figure it out because @enej encrypted it with his accent 23:25 - Enej humble-bragging about all the awesome stuff they're working on behind the scenes that we aren't aware of. Plenty of other goodies. Looking forward to hearing everyone's thoughts.

  5. My history of Ripple continues through the years of 2014-2016; It covers the dramatic news stories you may have heard about, Ripple's steady progress in development, their pivot away from Codius, and the birth of Interledger. The controversial topics like XRP allocation and organization shake-ups are not ignored; read through it and provide your own perspective if you were around (in crypto land) during that time frame. Of course, extra points if you work (or previously worked) for Ripple! Hope you enjoy! Please leave any feedback below. Also, feel free to share my blog with a friend or on any other platform - and thanks for doing so! 6. https://medium.com/@emschwartz/simplifying-interledger-the-graveyard-of-possible-protocol-features-b35bf67439be Very interesting read about ILP. I believe ILP will be absolutely key for FI to use whatever internal blockchain or token they wish (privacy reasons/competitive advantage/regulation), whilst simultaneously benefiting from xRPL.
  7. Hi All, Interledger seems to be a cheap, seamless and fully mature technological solution for sending money accross blockchains, accordint to what I have read about it in the press, on its website and from Ripple. As a result, I have recently been perplexed why interledger solutions that send money accross public blockchains are not more popular within the cryptocurrency community. In my research, I recently found 2 plug-ins on Github that claim to send money, presumably accross blockchains. This Ethereum interledger plug-in was created by Ripple's Evan Schwartz and this Bitcoin interledger plug-in was created by Ripple (according to this CoinDesk article) and was also contributed to by Evan Schwartz. Can someone explain to me how one would download or use these plug-ins to send money from Bitcoin to Ethereum? Or how they work logistically? How would you find a connector to help you execute a trade? I am not a developer and don't really know where to start looking at these pages. Any guidance would be much appreciated. I would also appreciate any thoughts on why solutions for sending money accross public blockchains using interledger are not more mature, when interledger seems to be a mature technology used by banks/ripple and lauded by the crypto press. After all, it seems like interledger should be able to function as an infinitely scalable and cheap decentralized crypto-currency exchange. Thanks!
  8. Hi, As I understand it, interledger protocol is supposed to connect ledgers (whether blockchains or banks), allowing for the seamless transfer of value. I understand that many financial institutions are using interledger by adopting ripplenet. Still, I am confused why there does not seem to be any consumer facing applications that employ interledger. For example, why are there no applications that allow you to send money from the Ethereum ledger to the Bitcoin ledger nearly for free using the protocol? Or are there such applications I am simply not aware of? This is especially perplexing given that interledger is supposed to facilitate nearly free transfers between blockchains. In addition, the system is open source, public and readily available through API's. A second question: can you embed ILP payments into smart contracts? Can a smart contract hold dollars in escrow and promise to pay them out through the interledger? I haven't thought this through very carefully, but basically - is ILP smart contract enabled? Let me know if you have any thoughts on either of these items. Thank you!

  11. Hi Guys, I am implementing the Interledger Protocol to transfer Ether to XRP. I have followed below steps: Ethereum Transfer: - I have implemented the Ethereum transfer between two account using https://github.com/interledgerjs/ilp-plugin-ethereum and I am able transfer it in my local ethereum network. - Now my plan is to create Ripple local network and transfer ether to ripple account in local network. - Consider a scenario if 'X' account want to transfer 10 Ether to 'Y' account of ripple network, in this scenario I have one basic question about 10 Ether, where I have to keep this 10 Ether: - Will it vanished from Ether network - Will it transfer to base account which used for transfer, similar to current bank payment architecture used for cross border payment Please explain me if anyone know, how is the flow of Ether or XRP in different payment network and how to implement using ILP.

  19. Gatehub Interledger Integration, coming soon? I didn't see an update message but: - Gatehub just said in the most recent blogpost: "GateHub is in the process of installing a multisig system, and in the near future, will be presenting a new, off-ledger trading system that will be safer, faster and easier to use." - In "GateHub 2016: A Year in Review" e-mail they sent on 5-January to their customers under "A Look Forward" they wrote "Maybe the most exciting feature this year is full Interledger support, coming in Q1 2017. Our gateways will be among the first ILP-enabled services and you as our customer will be able to experience this groundbreaking technology hands-on using GateHub Wallet." - Demonstrated the first world real-money Interledger payment between two different e-wallet providers (Gatehub and Bitstamp). (Search youtube for: Real Money over ILP - Enej Pungerčar & Gregor Gololicic @ ILP Workshop July 2016) - Did an Interledger Workshop and Hackathon on 1 & 2 June 2017. (https://gatehub.net/interledger-workshop-and-hackathon) - Last updated interledger-plugin & ilp-connector on Github in May & June ( https://github.com/GateHubNet/interledger-plugin https://github.com/GateHubNet/ilp-connector ) So... * Is ILP on Gatehub coming very soon? And on Bitstamp? * What are your thoughts? Or maybe Gatehub stuff can give an official response?

  22. @prkzingis posted the following image in 'General Discussion'. I feel like it warrants a discussion in this sub-forum as it's important for the price of XRP in the long run. I think this original image must be from April, but none-the-less, it's useful for analysis and seems fairly accurate, although there's no mention of Bank of England and the PoC they completed. It'd be interesting to better understand how Ripple's tech fits into R3's PoC initiatives. Is Ripple's role within R3 to provide the necessary infrastructure to make bank/FI-specific Corda ledgers interoperable by utilising the ILP (xCurrent now, I think)? My understanding is that the long-term aim is for R3 group to provide FI grade distributed ledgers for banks and FIs, and xCurrent + xVia are Ripple's solutions that tie them all together. So the hope is that increasing adoption of RippleNet (essentially xCurrent + xVia) as the de facto mechanism for cross-border settlements between these ledgers will lead to the eventual adoption of xRapid (the use of the native XRP asset) as it further reduces costs and removes liquidity barriers. It seems to me that SBI are almost at that stage now, albeit through utilising the RC Cloud rather than a Corda solution... as such; we're expecting some form of XRP adoption in the autumn/fall. Essentially, R3/Corda is to the West what SBI/RC Cloud is to the East. If that's the case, then I will be keeping an eye on the outcome of R3 PoC's and the roll-out of Corda distributed ledgers as a key precursor to the XRP's inevitable moonshot. Can anyone shed light on this, or correct me if I'm way off the mark here?
