  1. Is there a current Ripple Gateway list that can be accessed programmatically? The best lists I've found tend to be on forums like the following: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=155236.40 I've taken some of these and put them into JSON and CSV files: Repo: https://github.com/goxrp/ripple-network CSV: https://github.com/goxrp/ripple-network/blob/master/gateways.csv JSON: https://github.com/goxrp/ripple-network/blob/master/gateways.json I'm also thinking of making an API for this. Is such list useful? Or are there already other solutions for this?
  2. Hi guys Am fairly new to XRP - at least in terms of understanding use cases. I am slowly reading reading through the articles on https://xrpl.org/. I have a question about gateways. I'm trying to work out the benefits of owning a gateway. Let's assume we have 2 users, John (UK) who is sending money to Jane (Nigeria). I understand that John needs to exchange money into XRP and then transfer to the recipient, but not very clear on the following: Who sets the exchange rate for John? Or, how does a gateway set this (assuming I owned one) Similarly, how does Jane get Nigerian currency on her end? If there's any links / docs that explain this in an easier manner, that'd be awesome! TIA!
  3. Hello, Suppose I want to send money to a friend and I know that he is connected to a certain gateway through a trust line and that I am myself connected to another gateway via a trust line. I was wondering if there would be any benefits from creating a trust line between me and my friend's gateway to send him money? I could only think about the fee of each hop on the path that would become just one hop. Do you have any other ideas? (Considering both cases where we are using different money, and that his gateway offers both of course) Thank you!
  4. I was looking into the ripple protocol. I got really confused regarding the roles of the gateways in the network. My questions specifically are-- 1. Suppose a person A has to send x amount of some currency he has into some other currency to person B. What are the exact steps that should be followed by A and what does the protocol exactly do the above transaction. What role does the gateways play in the above setting? 2. As gateways are the entities which bring in non XRP currencies into the XRP network. How exactly does it do that? 3. How can we distinguish between the transactions in a ledger version which are related to actions done in part-2 above ? I mean transactions that come in the network due to a gateway. Please provide any other information related to gateways which might be useful for understanding the above scenarios. Thankyou.
  5. Hello everyone, All members of the SHUFFLUP team are traders and long-time crypto enthusiasts. All of us had our money stuck in several exchanges for several months in the past. Most of the times we were lucky and got our money back but rest it was hard luck. The reasons for such incidents were diverse, some of the times the crypto transfer was delayed due to technical errors on part of the exchange or we had sent crypto to a frozen exchange wallet. Many of us lost funds to scam exchanges in the past which use many tricks to loot money from us. Yet we see these exchanges doing good business till today. We have identified that the main reason for it is that people are complaining that there is dearth of information as to which exchanges are worth dealing with. User feedbacks are scattered here and there in different crypto forums and there is not a single one-stop platform which dedicates itself to containing the feedbacks of users about the different exchanges in which they are trading. Often traders choose an exchange to trade but later their chosen exchanges turn out to steal money from them or have no proper customer support or trade scam coins. On top of it, almost all of the exchanges do not provide an API to understand which of the wallets/markets are frozen at a certain time or whether they have halted any withdrawal for any coin/token or whether they are going through any maintenance. Even some of the exchanges take exorbitant amount of withdrawal and deposit fees and there is no way we can understand what is going on with an exchange, realtime. Hence we have dedicated a platform where you will be able to upvote/downvote or cast a neutral vote on the exchanges in which you trade and also comment on the reason for your vote. Our platform also contains a unique DB of more than 300 reviews gathered from different crypto forums and we currently support 126 exchanges, ranked according to the maximum number of upvotes. We are still working on it and the Review database is nowhere close to perfection. Hence we are asking for your help, please vent all your grudges using this tool and if you are satisfied with any of the exchanges do mention it as well. To make it as reliable as possible we have added two small requirements to review an exchange 1. you have to register with us. 2. you have to add one of your crypto social profiles(bitcointalk.org / cryptocompare/ xrp chat). We have listed 126 exchanges to review for all of you. Also please if you encounter any technical glitch or a frozen wallet or an under maintenance exchange or withdrawal problem with any exchange we request you to report it realtime. If you ask us "why should I provide these information?" - Then our answer would be that we should always fight together against these exchanges as these are our hard earned money. If we help others by giving information then others will also do the same. Please share all your trading experiences in different exchanges with us and we request you to share this page in your social media(bitcointalk.org / cryptocompare/ xrp chat) and with your friends. In the meantime we will enhance the database by jotting down all the scattered reviews from all over the internet. Let's make this a movement so that none of us have to lose our money to these scammy exchanges again! The link to ranking page - https://www.shufflup.org/exchanges_feedback.php The link to a particular exchange review - https://www.shufflup.org/feedback_public.php?exchng=Binance Our platform is under active development and we will add functionality based on your requirement. Please leave us suggestions/feedback and queries we will add that functionality as early as possible. Regards.
  6. How will current hodlers of #XRP be able to legally redeem their XRP for fiat in the future if there is no valid KYC/AML trail for the 2017/2018-era crypto exchanges which they purchased their XRP from originally? My concern is that fiat Gateways in the future will not accept XRP which does not have a complete KYC documentation trail for each address which it has been held by. Or do the KYC/AML laws only require that the individual / account who wants to buy the fiat IOU's provide KYC information about themselves to that Gateway? Thanks for any help in better understanding this. https://ripple.com/build/gateway-guide/
  7. Hi, I am fairly new to cryptos and i am planning on holding all my XRP for a long time (probably years). I just wanna know if theres any way I would be able to cash out the 20 XRP that is required for the wallet? Currently I am unable to use 50 XRP because of my open gateways on gatehub but I really wanna be back to the 20 XRP hold only, I only wanna keep the USD gateway up and the BTC gateway up. I had no idea that opening gateways would cause a lock on my XRP. If anybody could provide feedback, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you and warm regards to all!
  8. I've stumbled across Cryptomate https://cryptomate.co.uk/buy-ripple/ on Coin Market Cap. low volume, but the only GBP/XRP market. I've not used them, wondered if anyone from the UK has, or has any insight? There are nowhere near enough gateways for GBP and I think there is a substantial gap in the market. The more liquidity to and from XRP the better, so I want to investigate setting-up a Gateway and would love for someone from Cryptomate to get in touch. Lando
  9. To all the new faces: If you have just discovered Ripple and Ripple Consensus Ledger, you might discover that some IOUs are worth less than others. Sometimes substantially so. Please do not hurry to exploit such 'arbitrage' opportunity. Usually, there is an explanation for the hefty discount. Over the years, Ripple ecosystem has seen gateways and even a bank (Fidor, anyone?) go in and out of business. The wallets quoted below belong to businesses that are no longer operational. It means that you won't be able to redeem BTC/LTC/FIAT from Ripple network. Please, do not trade them unless you are ready to lose your money. 1. ~dividendrippler Address: rfYv1TXnwgDDK4WQNbFALykYuEBnrR4pDX It used to be a very convenient semi-automatic non-KYC gateway. Sadly, not anymore. 2. ~btc2ripple Address: rMwjYedjc7qqtKYVLiAccJSmCwih4LnE2q Btc2ripple aka ~snapswap was once a prominent gateway that facilitated US side for ~Fidor bank remittance services. 3. ~PayRoutes Address: rNPRNzBB92BVpAhhZr4iXDTveCgV5Pofm9 Be especially careful with this one. It may appear it is operational, but the USD/EUR/ILS redemption are done only by one account that has destination tag "1". I'd wager that belongs to an owner or somewone connected to them. They DO NOT redeem fiat. They may ask you for your ID/BILL for "KYC" and will forever ignore you ever since. Israeli business register has a warning against the company "infraction of the law". 4. ~justcoin-hot Address: rJHygWcTLVpSXkowott6kzgZU6viQSVYM1 Justcoin is a victim of a glorious exploit of partialpayments flag. Afterwards, ANX Hong-Kong bought them out. But they do not honor the outstanding IOUs of Justcoin. 5. ~rippleru Address: rUSrgqXVFEw5ZaruTqiDrXDecRuGnhFqu8 Rippleru was a service by Z-Payment to provide RUB in a form of ZPR token. As of now, Z-Payment does not support their gateway. 6. ~wisepass Address: rPDXxSZcuVL3ZWoyU82bcde3zwvmShkRyF The website is still operational, but they do not respond on emails. 7. ~bitso Address: rG6FZ31hDHN1K5Dkbma3PSB5uVCuVVRzfn https://blog.bitso.com/terminación-del-bitso-ripple-gateway-e8ca72189b0b If you know any other gateway that became insolvent, please, write their name/address in comments.
  10. I noticed in past weeks there's been new CNY issuer with address rPT74sUcTBTQhkHVD54WGncoqXEAMYbmH7 that has volume significant enough to make it to XrpCharts. The address has a URL assigned to it - client.qkwgzf.com - that seems to be some clone of former RippleTrade. Googling gave me https://gw.qkwgzf.com/乾坤钱包使用教程/ obviously in Chinese from which I can only guess they're a gateway. Maybe somebody from that region have an idea who they are or if I can trust them?
  11. I was trying to reach out to whoever is operating these gateways, but the email went silent. Judging by activity of redemptions and issuances, I must be missing something. Hence the question: 1. Do you use RippleChina/RippleCN? 2. How do you manage to redeem their assets?
  12. I know you hold your own XRP private key on Gatehub...but what if you sell your XRP for BTC or USD? Is your money still safe from hackers?
  13. If you are holding the Gold and Sliver in Ripple Singapore Gateway address, please be aware that Ripple Singapore will not be continuing the Ripple Singapore gateway service after 31 October 2016.
  14. Maybe I'm being a tad over-dramatic, but everything about financial institutions sucks right now. Is needing to show "proof of residency" unique to Gatehub, or do all of the Ripple gateways require that? Not everybody is fortunate enough to have a residency... I was going to find somebody with good health insurance to marry really soon. Thank goodness I didn't rush that. I'll also need to make sure they have access to banking.
  15. This is market research. What do you most love about your favorite exchanges? What are some things that suck about an exchange; What's your biggest criticism? What would you like to see? This can be anything. Features and functionality, community related, Nintendo entering the market, spaceships, strippers, whatever.

Pretty cool. Make sure you click on all nodes to expand it to the complete 5-node network.
