It's time we, the XRP community, fork the XRP ledger. Hive is a good example of a successful community-led fork (fork of Steemit): https://decrypt.co/23854/hive-decentralized-fork-outperforms-steemit Who's in? How do we start?

Let’s assume we are the same day but year 2020. What does the Zerpening topic discussions look like ?

My starting point is a quote from @Hodors recent blog „So, the most common question that we get from our customers: What about volatility? Digital asset markets are so volatile. Price moves up and down. Well, the beauty of this product, is that our customers don’t have to hold XRP directly. They can initiate payments in their domestic currency, dollar, euro, or anything else. And then xRapid in the back end uses XRP as the bridge to convert between domestic currency that it originated from and the beneficiary currency that they want to receive payment into. So, the fact that xRapid does not require our customers to hold XRP allows our customers to enjoy all the positive benefits of blockchain technology and digital assets such as security, speed, and transparency, without necessarily being exposed to volatility.” Who will hold all these XRP? Who is going to sell it? Who is going to rebuy it? By what kind of factors will be the price driven? Supply and Demand? Ok. Let imagine the price of XRP is much higher than now. The consequence would be that there are not many xrp needed to do a transaction. Consequently the demand of xrp decreases and so the price? I mean who needs all this XRP. Theoretically , Ripple’s 60 Billion XRP would be enough to serve all customers. If the case takes place that they would need more xrp because auf more demand , the price of xrp increases for that period of time - problem solved. Who will need all my xrp?? What do I do with it in the future? Yes I bought them, because I’m speculating that price will rise driven by irrational nonsense - to get rich , hopefully. I’m a big fan of the ripple network but more and more I’m questioning who will actually need MY tokens? What is the future for all the small private investors like you and me? What will be my part in ripples plan for xrp?

Bearable123 posts cryptic image.. Who can solve?
Guest posted a topic in XRP Trading and Price Speculation
Hey guys and gals, I am pretty sure everyone her eon this forum has heard of Reddits famous Bearable123. He is quickly garnering a reputation for calling announcements by Ripple, with his latest being numerous children shusshing and binary countdown to the announcement up the day of the $29mil giveaway. He/She or they also accurately callled the walmart connection. So in their latest post is some sort of strange pictorial anagram as below: Can anyone solve? Its pretty cool and think its a welcome distraction from time to time. According to the Teenage investor, the phoenix on the left column represent an article from the economist decalring a new world currency, so that woul lead me to thinking that the column on the left states that the new world currency will be bit coin. The puppet on the right has coding on it, etc etc Enjoy -
I just came across this news "XRP pilot program": What New Partnership Says About XRP’s Future A company processing $20.0 billion in cross-border payments is launching an XRP pilot program, adding more real-world demand for Ripple’s native cryptocurrency. The company is Cambridge Global Payments. Hi All experts i have very little amount to invest. With that amount I can only buy 500 XRP or I can buy 100,000 DOgecoins. I am not sure what is best for me. as I cannot invest more and want to be millionaire in a year time or so. ........ or I can just buy a home in UK I read many stories how bitcoin changed peoples life. But that is out of my range now

A quick question. for many peoples XRP price is high for buying in 4 figures. Is it worth buying and investing in Dogecoin and later on when price goes up can exchange with XRP. In other words is it worth buying some Dogecoins???

I have yet to read a post by anyone that understands that XRP has nothing to do with banks and remittance institutions. The network that banks use (Xcurrent) has absolutely nothing to do with "Xrapid" which is what the seperate digital currency (XRP) uses. Nothing at all. This talk of banks adopting XRP is so flagrantly ignorant it causes me to shake my head. So what the heck is this perpetual talk of XRP absorbing swift and forex transactions? It's 100% completely centralized within Ripple Inc. and is at the mercy of their scrupules, trust and caprices. Low transaction costs and fast transactions? Bitcoin's lightning network will be able to do that and so will Ethereum within 2 years. I have big problems with bitcoin's power usage, miner monopoly, exchange monopoly and hackability. I have a huge problem with XRP's company centralization, seperate business's (Xcurrent for institutions and Xrapid for speculators) and see Ethereum-Ether as the superior balance of both. So I challenge the "informed" Ripple speculators to elucidate the justification for this because I see zero within a short to mid timeframe. Not a hater. I speculatively bought 3k XRP on Kraken but fail to see the longterm benefits of a flagrantly centralized company owned cryptocurrency that has nothing to do with banks or remittance institutions. Addition to original post: **NOTICE** Very surprised by the volume and speed of responses here. Blown away I am. My post was meant to ask a hard question by a neophyte newbie–me–in regard to XRP. In order for something to stand upon its own two feet it must be able to withstand these queries. I thank you all for the informative info and critique. This community is far more robust than I thought. I originally bought bitcoin when it was a subversive medium at a cafe in chicago from a guy I met on Reddit. I used it to get funds into an offshore gambling account. It was a truly beautiful thing back then when the miners were discursive and spread out, governments didn't develop tools to mess with it, exchanges did not exist, it was actually used as a currency etc... This Ripple community reminds of those times a bit. My limited vision sees 3 cryptos: a centralized regulated (Ripple), a decentralized swiss-army knife (Ether) and a subversize untraceable (Monero et al). I'm in all 3. I see bitcoin as the Icarus, the first casualty, the Napster, Atari and Netscape. Thanks for the replies again.

How will ripple embrace 5G internet? Are ripple’s labs looking at the technology to further reduce the transaction time? I imagine as the world grows, and XRP mainstreams the need for infinitely faster transaction times will be paramount.

Hi all What do you think, will we be able to send our XRP holdings to our bank account (or a xrp sub account) one day, say in 4-6 years, assuming adoption is there? That would be nice, no? We wouldn't have to go through exchanges when we make the big cashout. (OK, origin of funds would have to be proved, but that's doable). Any thoughts?

https://xrphodor.wordpress.com/2017/07/18/future-proof-your-portfolio-with-xrp/ This is my latest blog entry. A lot of crypto investors don't really think beyond a small "play" on Polo where they try to cash in on a hot crypto that's "going parabolic". But if you're looking to make an investment that has the most future potential, you have to see entire future trends and markets well ahead of time, like Ripple tends to do with uncanny accuracy, in my opinion. Let me know if you agree / disagree, and feel free to share as much as you like! Despite the last sell off math proves it without doubts. While everyone is talking about Goldman Sachs' ~75% pre-mined scam (thanks to their inside advertising)... XRP is the best crypto in the LAST 12 MONTHS: On the 30 MAY 2016 its value was 0,005734 USD. Now its value is: 0,22 USD. It's a 3737% gain. XRP is the best crypto YEAR TO DATE too: On the 1 JANUARY 2017 its value was 0,006523 USD. Now its value is: 0,22 USD. It's a 3273% gain. Compared to ETH (Ethereum-overvalued-overrated-overtalked-scam): LAST 12 MONTHS: 12,56 vs 200 USD -> 1492% gain. YEAR TO DATE: 7,98 vs 200 USD -> 2406% gain. LAST MONTH MAX REACHED VALUE COMPARISON: XRP -> 0,42 USD -> LAST 12 MONTHS: 7225% theorical maxxed gain obtained --> YTD: 6339% theorical maxxed gain obtained ETHEREUM -> 225,06 USD -> LAST 12 MONTHS: 1692% theorical maxxed gain obtained --> YTD: 2720% theorical maxxed gain obtained All datas are taken from: http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/ So don't worry about latest days. Ripple is still dominating and will even more in the future, seeing premises and seeing great governance behind it, much better than Goldman Sachs hidden hand that made the 'crisis' through its speculation manouvers around the world. ETH is just another banksters speculation and won't last. XRP will. JUST MY TWO CENTS OF COURSE.

HI guys, Just a thread to see how XRP fans look at the future, and what influences ripple or other cryptos is gonna have on our culture? for example: our society is full with families and entities who hold large sums of money. when the world goes crypto, they would be on the short end of this deal. but that old money has a lot of power upon our society, cooperations and politics. so how would this power struggle proceed in your opinion?

https://www.salesforce.com/uk/blog/2017/05/digital-strategy-battleground-retail-vs-institutional-banking.html When you read these types of articles, you might wonder, how does this impact XRP and Ripple, RCL and the usage of ILP? The lesson is this: The pressure on traditional banking institutions is increasing and increasing, and shows no sign of letting up. Banks will either embrace innovation, or they will go the way of the Do-do bird. It's that simple. And Ripple has the technology for helping them integrate with instant international transfers at low cost, as well as modern strategies to handle their nostro accounts. The "Big Four" and others are now forming Ripple integration teams to expand the number of integrations of Ripple tech that can take place as well: https://ripple.com/network/system-integrators/

I'm voluntary provocative but, look all the charts... I mean, all the other altcoin's charts. Since the end of April / start of May 2017, they all pumped hard. They all made +100%... +500%... etc. I do believe cryptos are in their early stage, and investments will flow more than that. I do believe this market is like the forex 3.0 and will far exceed all our projections, even if it's largest part could be speculation. I have no doubt that ripple is an amazing technology with great future, but... Look all the charts ! We are just another crypto. Your opinion ?

Hi, I hold just over 100,000 xrp that i purchased in about 3 years ago. i don't claim to know much about how all this works or where it is going, it was a leap of faith based on a tip when I had some spare cash. I see lots of posts about price predictions based on wishful thinking and others too technical for me to get my head around. Now we have hit 1¢ and things are getting serious. Its uncharted waters and nobody knows the future but I want to start thinking about my cash in point. Does anyone have an educated guess at what a realistic cash in price should be (please leave wishful thinking aside). 50¢, $1, $10, $100....? Thanks.

What do you think XRP's Near Future? Increase or Decrease? and Why?
-
Hi All, I have a couple of questions so that I'm prepared for when XRP hits $10 1. Will there be a platform to allow me to send XRP to my bank account (given the bank is signed up for Ripple), and receive a predetermined number of AUD$ (or which ever Currency) at the other end direct from an XRP wallet? 2. Could Ripple partnered banks offer an XRP account and essentially use deposits for funding transaction? (Much like they use our $ to loan out to other customers) Thanks, Mars

This may be a topic that has already been covered, and I am too lazy to search through 3k+ threads to find it. I am writing down my experience as I project my assumptions into the future, where XRP is the river that all other forms of value float upon. I see XRP being adopted by the largest banks first, showing a real use-case that will be the jumping point needed for all other banks to make the same change with confidence. Do or die. Forced to comply, XRP will be adopted quickly. I understand that the ILP is really the only thing that is necessary, but when you get Paychan and Escrow with RCL using XRP it is a no-brainer! *bank committee* "Hey, should we like...adopt this RCL thing? I mean, it does work reaaally well....or should we like, try to come up with our own way of working something into our ILP like Paychan or Escrow" Nope. They will jump on board. When you are on a sinking boat, you get on the life-boat that is available, given the available one is reliable and efficient. Get everyone talking with the ILP, show them how cool the Paychan and Escrow additions are and they will slide right on in to using the RCL. Bingo. Second step is going to be to really sell the crap out of it. It is a stock, essentially. Get the price down low (not insinuating that Ripple has anything to do with it, but that everyone's goal is stability for adoption) and get as many banks onboard as possible. Then you let this beast free into the wild, and sell the crap out of it! The smaller banks are probably going to be absorbed into the larger, is my prediction, as the larger banks are best positioned to hold the most XRP before it goes up significantly in price whereas the smaller banks face higher adoption prices and rough implementation. Hence, the absorption. Again, this is only MY prediction. Down the road, I see apps developed to allow people to use XRP to transfer value for a P2P purchase. XRP is used to transfer money instantly on the stock market...(Right, Miguel?) I see XRP as having a far-reaching arm that will have fingers in everything. Essentially, we are creating a global currency that will be worth more than any other currency using it. Yeah, yeah bitcoin shmitcoin. I'm talking a global currency that will be happily adopted by the global banking community....you know, the one that the majority of the civilized world uses on a daily basis. A New World Currency. NWC. Can I coin that?
