  1. https://xrphodor.wordpress.com/2017/07/20/i-want-to-buy-beer-with-my-xrp/ I think we need more end-user applications for XRP! I don't think Ripple should change course at all - they've got to continue along with their current laser focus on banks; but I think XRP investors can fund some exciting new applications - either with new ICOs, or with other funding sources! Let me know if you agree / disagree with my points, and please - by all means - feel free to share or link to my blog! Thanks in advance for any feedback or sharing! 2. You may have seen this already, however, I completely missed it... In the "Nine things you need to know about XRP" article Ripple has stated in item #9 that XRP is easy to buy. https://ripple.com/insights/nine-things-need-know-xrp/ There is a link to the Ripple web site embedded in item #9 https://ripple.com/xrp/buy-xrp/https://ripple.com/xrp/buy-xrp/ I went to that site and I was pleasantly surprised to find that Ripple has identified 13 XRP exchanges. The two I had not seen before was SBI Virtual Currencies (coming soon) http://www.sbivc.co.jp/ AND Satoshi Citadel (coming soon) http://sci.ph/about.html *** This means that 2 new exchanges in Japan and the Philippines will be coming on-line soon which should really help with liquidity (11 exchanges are already in production). What is super exciting about this is that the SBI Virtual Currencies exchange I expect will directly support the SBI group group of Japanese banks that are implementing the Ripple solution. In my mind this confirms that the SBI group is implementing the XRP ledger and XRP digital asset. I was originally a bit concerned that the SBI group might be implementing the ILP and not using the XRP ledger/XRP coin.
  3. In the paper, "Building Network Effects on Ripple", found here https://ripple.com/files/ripple_vision.pdf, they give an example of a liquidity provider having to quote up to 28 currency pairs on page 5, first image attached. I think I understand what's going on there, though maybe I'm being nit-picky and can't count but shouldn't it be 30 pairs? But regardless on page 6, they show how by using XRP as a bridge currency (second image attached), the liquidity provider can accomplish the same thing by only quoting 8 pairs. I've been trying to figure this out but, what are those 8 pairs they are referring to that can bridge all six different currencies in the example?
  4. This is a *really* impressive response to the ESMA discussion paper by Lykke, who act as an exchange, app and crypto-asset. Worth reading in full but my personal highlights are below. https://www.lykke.com/city/blog/dtl_securities_markets #awesomesauce
  5. http://blog.sci.ph/post/160832191621/sci-to-add-xrp-support-to-its-blockchain-ecosystem Quoted: "Since 2014, SCI has been working on building the best technology platform for Blockchain-based services in the Philippines. Using the Bitcoin Blockchain, it has provided cheaper, faster, and more accessible financial services to over 500,000 users with services like Rebit.ph, Buybitcoin.ph, Bitbit.cash, and several more. Today, we are happy to announce that SCI will soon start supporting Ripple’s XRP across several of our services. Starting with Buybitcoin.ph, our users will be able to buy and sell XRP with Philippine Pesos fast, safe, and easy, with support on Rebit.ph for remittances and Bitbit.cash for mobile money to follow in future integrations. XRP is a digital asset that has recently proven itself to have a clear use case. As established financial institutions, as well as major cryptocurrency exchanges, start to partner with Ripple and support XRP, its utility as a payment rail and settlement layer becomes more evident. Combined with its speed, low cost, and scalability, SCI believes that XRP is a valuable asset to add to its growing ecosystem of blockchain services in the Philippines and the rest of the world."
  6. soon (/so͞on/):adverb - 1. in or after a short time. At this point we can all agree that the infamous "coming soon" announcement regarding the XRP liquidity incentive program was premature. While I understand there were good reasons for postponing such a program (glad that @miguel will now have input), it seems disingenuous the headline still reads "Coming Soon" more than a year after it was originally announced. While we have seen hints of such a program and Ripple no doubt intends to unveil it at some point in time, my suggested options for an immediate remedy are: If testing, debate, etc. continue to occur in such a fashion that what the final program will look like is still largely undetermined, remove the headline from the page until this changes. Otherwise the announcement should be updated with a less vague timeline like "May 2017", "Q3 2017", or something similar. It's now clear that while Ripple's target is FI's, the liquidity provided by crypto enthusiasts is needed, or at a minimum "nice to have", when bootstrapping liquidity for XRP. Such a small adjustment as suggested above would help restore credibility within the community. I hope this is helpful @miguel and @Tim
  7. I had a small realization today that I wanted to share with the community. Based on the infamous "COMING SOON" announcement of the upcoming MM incentive program it was largely assumed (at least by me) that Ripple would be DIRECTLY incentivizing XRP liquidity. Today Ripple's website still reads: Based on the above quote, the idea that this incentive would be paid directly to liquidity providers seems like a fair assumption. I believe the majority of us still believe this to be the case. When the the first XRP quarterly report was released I remember reading a statement that seemed somewhat contrary to this belief. The excerpt that caught my eye in the quarterly report was this: Does this mean Bitstamp IS the liquidity provider or will they be managing program on behalf of Ripple? It's not at all clear what was meant by this. Today I went back to the original Bitstamp announcements and I found this: https://www.bitstamp.net/article/xrp-trading-now-available/ Drum roll please. Reduced fees on Bitstamp IS THE INCENTIVE PROGRAM, *or at least the only tangible portion of its current version*. It seems that Ripple decided they would simultaneously try to spur liquidity and subsidize the exchange model (which we know is challenged) through a single program. Judging by the volume we see on Bitstamp, the liquidity portion at least was not successful. I assume this means back to the drawing board for Ripple and SOON may come later than we hope. Hopefully I've got it all wrong, but either way this seems to be a lackluster first impression.
