xrp noob reacted to JoelKatz in Is Ripple prepared for quantum computer attacks?
Yes. Additional algorithms can easily be added, just as we added Ed25519. Existing accounts can be re-secured with a new key if desired. So you won't need a new ripple address.
We haven't actually added any quantum-safe algorithms yet because none of the ones available today are perfect for our use case. And any algorithm we add we'll have to support forever. So we'd prefer to wait as long as we safely can so that we'll have the most information to make the choice of algorithm(s) to implement.

xrp noob reacted to JoelKatz in Why did Jed McCaleb leave Ripple to start Stellar
Thanks for alerting me to his response. I hadn't noticed it. I responded to it.
IMO, there is simply no justification for betraying your employees and investors except if you are aware of illegal or immoral actions on the part of the company or its management. Jed's claim now is that he was badly treated. Even accepting that's true for the sake of argument, it doesn't justify betraying your investors. It's not at all unusual for founders to get forced out of their own companies.
And, again, I saw no evidence whatsoever of that and, from my perspective, we did everything we could to keep involved or, at least, neutral. But I can't prove a negative and it's certainly possible that he was treated badly when I wasn't around. Again, the proper reaction would have been to hang back and let the company make him a billionaire.

    https://link.smartcontract.com/whitepaper
The Crowdsale is Capped at $32,000,000

Total Token Supply of 1,000,000,000 LINK to be distributed:
35% going to Node Operators to Incentivize the Ecosystem
35% will be sold in the Public Token Sale
30% will go to the Company for Continued Development
Ethereum ERC20 Token, directly purchasable with ETH
    SEPTEMBER 19TH ICO BEGINS
The LINK Network is the first decentralized oracle network; allowing anyone to securely provide smart contracts with access to key external data, off-chain payments and any other API capabilities. Anyone who has a data feed, useful off-chain service such as local payments, or any other API, can now provide them directly to smart contracts in exchange for LINK tokens.

Becoming a ChainLink Node Operator is an easy way to monetize your experience with a specific API as a developer. It's also a great way for data providers, payments providers and various online service providers e.g. e-signature to sell their API based services directly to a smart contract.

If you'd like to operate a ChainLink Node to offer your services for direct purchase by a smart contract, we're excited to help get you setup. By creating a decentralized infrastructure for smart contracts to access critical off-chain resources, there is now a scaleable, secure and auditable way to add data, off-chain payments and APIs into a smart contract.
gentlemen, i`m very interested to see your opinions on this ico. it`s got serious serious backers with 1 billion supply of tokens

xrp noob reacted to Sharkey in Looks like an XRP IRA is on the way!
Many of you have probably seen ads for the “IRS approved” Bitcoin IRA.  I decided today to call this company for more info.  They are about a year and a half old and are based in a real brick and mortar office in Sherman Oaks, CA.  They started out offering BTC only and recently have expanded to offer ETH as well.  They are partnered with BitGo for wallet services.  They also provide each IRA owner “ $1 million Consumer Protection insurance policy with Lloyds of London” to insure against “any internal cases of fraud or theft.”
Enough about the details; here’s the cool part.  The rep told me that they are looking to offer both LTC and XRP “within a few months.”  He also said the company gets “about a thousand calls daily” from potential investors.  Their administrative fees are not insignificant, but they are inversely proportional to the client’s investment.  I would think that for more conventional investors who might be intimidated by the whole crypto scene, this could be a way to increase knowledge, comfort level, and interest among a fairly big part of the adult population in the states.

Granted, we live in a world of techno-zombies. And I am guilty of feigning an "important msg" to get away from someone now and then.
Eye to eye communication goes a long way towards forging deeper relationships. And there is far less that can be misinterpreted. On a metaphysical level, we do actually share each other's being (molecules and atoms, etc.) simply by being in proximity of each other.
But it sure would be nice to experience Mars or Saturn vividly in my own lifetime...
    Namaste,

Yeah, it should be bigger based on their target use case.  It makes me wonder if an IPO might be in the near future.  I'd prefer Ripple to remain private and more flexible; being a public company puts them under a microscope!
