  1. Bitcoin is the honey badger of cryptocurrency. Its demise has been predicted many times but it has displayed remarkable resilience. Bitcoin cash is akin to an altcoin and it will in no way affect the long term price trajectory of Bitcoin. I should also say that if Bitcoin fails, all cryptos (including xrp) will be taken to the woodshed. Bitcoin is the anchor of the cryptomarket. Even xrp (as unique as it is) responds to its gravity. We should all root for Bitcoin.
  2. Any estimate of # holders? The Cambridge study estimates the # of Bitcoin users in the world at approximately 6.5 million (Give or take a few million)
  3. Once you purchase the coins you can send them to your own wallet (eg rippex desktop wallet is nice). I prefer ledger nano s hardware wallet for security/convenience. Can't provide specifics re UK (I'm in America) but you may want to checkout gatehub.net best wishes
  4. welcome. easiest way: Step 1. buy bitcoin on exchange (like gemini, coinbase, etc). Step 2. Transfer your bitcoin to an exchange that also sells xrp (poloniex, bittrex, etc). Step 3. Trade your btc for xrp. Note: If you want straight fiat purchase, you'll want to consider gatehub.net best wishes.
  5. I've seen wild estimates about the number of individuals currently holding bitcoin. Can we speculate as to how many individuals are currently holding xrp? I would imagine it's a fraction of the # of bitcoin holders.
  6. You should consider backfilling the bitcoins you traded out of. i see a bright future for bitcoin as well as xrp.
  7. The '1.4 trillion in circulation' refers to hard cash and coinage in circulation. It does not take into account 'electronic' dollars, which constitute a far greater amount. Xrp will need to handle trillions of USD to address the (best case) bridge currency use case.
  8. Plan to hold 10 years. No fixed price target/emotion to the investment. I'm prepared for it to go to zero, knowing fully well that this is high-risk / high-reward. IMHO, There is a better than outside chance of $20 USD/xrp w/in 3 years. Particularly if crypto market cap climbs to 1 trillion dollars, which I believe is within the realm is possible.
  9. 58% bitcoin 40% xrp 2% ethereum
  10. Ripple Labs is targeting banks, not mom and pop investors. The marketing/communication strategy is tailored accordingly. Following day to day price action is a recipe for anxiety; xrp needs to consolidate for a while before making a run on $1. Ripple labs puts out news regularly on their website; the market will interpret it as it sees fit.
  11. The most likely scenario I see is incremental adoption by institutions of a small handful of corridors. If they can sign up a small handful of institutions for a few niche corridors (e.g USD-->INR); the tech will quickly prove itself in the real world --- I would then expect a surge of adoption. But at this point they need to focus on real world adoption at a few institutions.
  12. You make an important point. As I stated in my post, Ripple Labs is doing all the right things. In addition to the their 'first to market advantage' & best in class technology, they have organizational leadership & infrastructure to engage with regulators and financial institutions. They sit on the Federal Reserve Steering Committee for faster payments, which reflects their reputation in the space as a trusted leader. They have tailored their technology, team and leadership to focus on the gloal interbank payment niche; you have to give them credit for that. Of course there are no guarantees of success; but that's why we are posting on the speculation forum.
  13. IMHO, the market fundamentally misunderstands Ripple Labs & XRP. That is what my due-diligence has led me to conclude. My educational background as a computer engineer and a juris doctor are coloring my lense; I look at Ripple/XRP from the use case perspective; the technological perspective and the regulatory perspective. If Ripple can execute on their strategy (see @JoelKatz post from a few days ago), the upside potential for XRP is orders of magnitude higher. One of the lesser discussed facts is that 5 trillion dollars of B2B cross-border transactions take place everyday -- when XRP is used to facilitate movement of a meaningful portion of these transactions, you're talking about significant demand generation for the underlying XRP asset. I've been attempting to model the 'best-case' and 'medium-case' scenario of success -- I'm still having a hard time wrapping my head around what the impact would be; but even the medium case numbers are quite stunning and multiples higher from here. As I have been working through the models, I've come to realize why the float of XRP is at 99 billion units; such a float is absolutely critical to support demand generated by the aforementioned strategy/xrp use case. As good stewards of XRP, Ripple Labs is doing all the right things -- they are not hyping or pumping; they are diligently cultivating. They are prioritizing best-in-class technology designed from the ground up for the interbank transactional use cases, they are engaging & building trust with regulatory agencies, they are building relationships/piloting with global institutions, they are taking a measured approach to marketing (which I think is brilliant). It's my hope that we start to see some real-world use of XRP by big institutions (i.e. move beyond pilots) in the coming months/years. That will be a big milestone and a catalyst for significant upside ; I look forward to the day XRP overtakes the combined market capitalization of Bitcoin+Ethereum.
  14. It's still early in the game -- we are still in the 1st inning.
  15. Absolutely. That's why i'm also interested in conferences in Asia & Middle East North Africa (MENA). It's truly a global thing.
  16. Thanks Maniac! Those are all in Europe. Are you aware of conferences in Americas, MENA and/or Asia?
  17. More exchanges/additional xrp liquidity will mitigate this problem. Both are on the way.
  18. Good evening, I've been following achievements of Ripple (the company). IMHO, they have a reasonable chance of disrupting the global interbank payment hegemony. (They have certainly raised alarm within SWIFT) That being said, if Ripple Co. is able to successfully execute against their business plan, what impact (if any) would this success have on valuation of XRP the digital currency. I've heard anecdotes that a 2 digit (or even 3 digit) XRP price would be stabilizing/expected under a wide-scale adoption scenario; i'm trying to understand the fundamentals behind that assertion. Would appreciate your insights on XRP valuation models in such a scenario. Thanks in advance.
