So it's like an equity investment is it? But without the ownership rights or dividends or ability to hold management to account or protection that auditors provide, reducing the risk that the numbers told to you by the management are complete nonsense?

Agree. Bloggers and bots are cheaper than real profitable bussinesses with revenue.
I bought xrp in 2017 and holding since then. Not planing to buy any more XRPs. We have given them enough credit and time. It is time for Ripple and Mr. Garlinghouse to show results. We have had enough tweets about politics, equality, shitty podcasts with JK and other subjects...

Depends on what you're asking: the network should continue operating normally, but server operators would be justified in taking decisive action.
As for the network, individual servers would continue operating, collecting validations and running the consensus engine. If a sufficient number of validations from validators on a server's UNL were received, that server would advance its ledger. If not, the server would not. For servers using the UNL currently published by Ripple (which currently includes a total of 38 validators), the remaining 32 non-Ripple validators would be enough to continue advancing the ledger, regardless of whether Ripple's validators were online or what they did.
I'd also imagine that people would choose to quickly stop listening to any validator whose operator would pull such a stunt, which is a good segue to your next question, since I think it would have the same answer:
I imagine that server operators would just switch to a different UNL publisher (or manually select the validators they wished to listen to).

I don't understand why countries like India, instead of having a blanket ban, don't just use a Whitelisting method for assets/exchanges. Slow yes, but sure.

I've heard estimates that Ripple runs 16% of the XRP validators. TBH I don't know exactly how the XRP node network is set up, but coming from some experience in AWS VPC, if the XRP network is configured for redundancy there are likely parallel slave nodes on standby that would spin up and take over duties as soon as they detected the master nodes went offline. There's many other ways to set up redundancy, but that's a popular way.
If you mean 'what if they shut down everything on purpose with no backups on standby', then I'd assume the remaining online validators would then account for 100% of the validators and still require 80% consensus among them.

Switching off their validators unannounced would make the ledger more vulnerable if a few more validators fail if they keep announcing their current recommended UNL.
If they don't announce further updated UNLs, the network would likely grind to a halt once the current recommended list runs out and people don't quickly reconfigure their validators.

Or asked else, could a super majority of validators be added overnight and hijack the ledger.

The XRPL would not use the 6 or so Ripple validators (since they would now be offline) and rely on the other 142 validators in the XRPL - source : https://xrpcharts.ripple.com/#/validators
Any node can add any other node in its list of validators it uses to validate - the UNL is merely a recommendation.

Bitcoin for quite a while not has been pumped up by tether issuance (if it looks like a dollar, moves like a dollar it is  probably a duck pretending to be a dollar). When the pumpers cash out (dump) they seem to withdraw from their positions as  much as possible by buying Alt coins first to sell without collapsing the Bitcoin price.
Overall the XRP price has been been appalling the last 2.5 years. Bitcoin gets pumps and dumps and selling by miners but XRP has relentless selling pressure from Ripple founders, Ripple staff, Ripple and people Ripple give away large amounts of XRP to.
  25. Thanks
