If you think xrp valuation is unfair now, wait until they ipo and see what happens to poor xrp holders

Anyone who’s wishing for banks to die and for wealth to be redistributed will be waiting a long time, even beyond their lifetimes . No matter what the system is, wealth always finds its way to the same bunch. If you’re patient enough, smart enough, you’ll find an opportunity to better your own life. But let go of Utopian dreams. They aren’t happening

A big take away here is a new EUR-USD corridor.  This is the exact opposite of the smaller, high friction corridors they've gone after for remittance and suggests to me there are big companies pushing for use behind the scenes for other uses.  What companies want to use XRP ODL in this corridor?  In what ways?  Trade finance comes to mind.

People do realize that the IMF has held a basket of currencies (SDRs) for years now, right? This isn't some new process and I don't see the SDRs being used by Central Banks as the asset of choice for cross border remittances. I don't see how your premise holds up to reality Tiff.

It pains me to say this, but in my opinion the value characteristics for XRP needed to be adjusted so that it doesn’t reflect that of a security. I believe this was fixed as a means to appease regulators for this new type of asset class to not be ruled as a security, also hindering the tokens value metric. This recalculation of perceived value also effects similar ALT coins whose description is similar to a utility token / digital currency. It was shortly after this time when Ripple execs and staff started off loading their XRP as a result of these alterations.
The employees of Ripple knew exactly what happened but were silent around the events as to not encur further depreciation of the token. The writing has been on the wall for over a year now and if XRP is ever capable of reaching $1 again plan your exit strategy.
in my opinion regulation is killing this industry not helping it.

My cat* has more insider knowledge about Ripple than Tiffany after the infamous (and embarrassing) Claire Arthurs incident. It comes as no surprise that her opinion on XRP has increasingly soured after her all access pass to Ripple was revoked

It’s actually laughable that on one hand, you talk about a CBDC negating the role of a neutral third party currency like XRP for cross border payments, and then in the same breath talk about crypto being used for online payments as some sort of holy grail
Crypto used for online payments is one of the first use cases that a retail CBDC will capture. Neither the merchant, nor the customer has any incentive to use a third party currency/ DA if the CBDC of their central bank offers fast, secure, cheap atomic settlements
Unless of course, you’re talking about privacy coins. In which case, do some research about the legislative direction several world powers are taking against them

A bunch of central banks who have a certain amount of trust with each other (Which they even had during the last financial Crisis), are exploring direct settlement with each other
This isn’t news to anyone who has been paying attention over the past few years. Tell me, how does this change settlement between say, Nigerian Naira/ Turkish Lira and the US dollar/ Euro?

Cross-border payments fall under the domain of the Federal Reserve. Central banks are still figuring out their next move and they're working with IBM and Stellar.

Buys and sells of XRP are made with a spread of some basis points. When $1Billion per day is being transferred around the globe using ODL even at 10basis points spread, someone is earning $365million per year just off the fees. This gives xrp an intrinsic value. Even if cars were free (but limited in number), taxi drivers would pay to own them because they can earn money from giving people rides. Market makers will compete for this income and this gives xrp its value. The more xrp that is locked away and not being used for liquidity, the less is available for cross border transfers and the higher the 'price'. As price rises, investors will lock more up, this will in turn drive up the price via competition for the remaining xrp. ODL provides a floor price below which XRP should not fall and the floor price is directly proportional to ODL volume (and circulating tokens).
