Banco Santander hasn't said anything that people don't already know. Ripple has mentioned the chicken and egg problem over and over again.
Banco Santander is dealing with a lot more currencies and volume than what ODL can handle at the moment right now. Simple as that.
The XRP market still needs to get beefed up big time for large banks to be able to use ODL with a good user experience.
I remember saying this a long time ago and of course the "aNgRy XRP MoB" with all of their cherry picked quotes and statistics and said that ODL is already good enough for eveyone to use it. Lmao. If you don't believe me, go ask Santander why they said what they just said so they can say it again.
A large established company will never abandon a system that works "well enough" for something else that "likely/if goes as expected" will be better.
Many investors here say they are in this for the long run. XRP needs to be traded a lot more and needs a lot more liquidity still. All you can do is wait, if you have the patince, or just sell. Both options are fine.

When i saw Christine Lagarde with Brad on stage and she was talking about ripple i immediately bought a ton of xrp. It was a huge buy signal for me. This is the reason I'm so surprised about Santander bank. Why did they make such a statement?! It shocked me honestly.

im sure you're hiding the pain now just like your avatar, give it until end of 2021 would you? to be fair it's only 2.5 years since the last top, it's still considered a relatively short time period, we'll bash together once there's no ROI by end of 2021, i'll invite hodor and leonidas to bash xrp together too, im sure they would join, there's only so much we can take for winter ya know?

What do you guys think? Are you worried? Are those maxis right? Why is santander absolutely not interested in xrp?Apparently there are many things and problems that we don't know about. I don't want to give up just yet, but it really worries me.

I would be surprised if the court case was dismissed, but miracles sometimes happen.
XRP is very well positioned to do very well from speculative runs, even if the tokens were not adopted.  The company have established themselves as an authority for using blockchain for cross border payments and are invited by central banks and international financial organisations to give their opinions and advice about creating digital infrastructure suited to trading/developing on the internet of Value.  No financial institution can avoid preparing for this disruption which is already happening.  Ripple are at the heart of planning changes that will be coming into the Financial industry over the next ten years and they will use that advantage to make sure that XRP is always amongst the candidates for adoption.
So many people tell us XRP is a high risk high return investment, my view has always been that it is low risk high return investment, but I am so often wrong.  You must make your own judgements.

For the record, I am still very much an XRP bull!
Just, as old timers will recall, I am and have always been a *Ripple Founders* and initial distribution sceptic, as well as how they for a long time treated/ignored the community whose funds they used to "bootstrap" the network. That doesn't make me anti-Ripple etc either, big fan, just with all things, there are good and bad points.

Exactly.. The only reason why i still keep my xrp is because i believe that Ripple uses all the  token to build the ecosystem. But I'm not going to finance ripple forever if things remain the same. Ripple has to deliver. They are under pressure and i think it's absolutely important to be critical with them over their supply.

There are a number of things to clarify:
    1) what are the most used remittance destinations operated by Santander? Are these coinciding with the ODL corridors that are available as of today?
    2) if yes, is there enough liquidity to sustain the medium sized payments? What is the average payment sent by Santander?
    3) are the regulatory constraints solved? How should a bank formally weigh the risk of sending FX payments using a crypto as a bridge currency? Regulatory reporting (BasleIII) fixes a number of rules to stick with for credit risk, counterparty risk, FX risk, settlement risk, country risk and risk of fraud.
Could be many reasons not to use XRP (yet). But there is not a single reason to exclude it either. Sooner or later payment providers will deal with these payments, whether banks like it or not...

you should put a question mark in the title ... otherwise it seems that you would be taking it for granted.
My opinion, I think they will use it, but only when the regulations are well established.

Back in the day, it looked like Santander would be one of the first to jump, so I agree. I don't think there's anything funny about it either. But then again I'm not really sure how dire the news is. I also don't think they are 'absolutely not interested'. The reasoning was lack of current use across the board in Santander's eyes, so again it's chicken egg.
XRP as a non-deliverable bridge asset is a no brainer in a non-deliverable forward/NDF contract in exotics. BRL as an example. But this has probably been discussed behind closed doors for years with them.
A three pair/tri pair hedge in fiat exists obviously. A crypto as the bridge asset and one of the three currencies is going to happen on a large scale. Another clue is crypto custodian companies and how well they are doing; notice the headlines and you can see what's happening behind closed doors across the board.
Brad's constant reference to Ripple being the Amazon for payments I think is a clue with the direction they are going.

The word hopium is really a bit smug.  It implies that that hope is some sort of drug that overpowers reason, without providing reasoned arguments why hope is unreasonable.
XRP have been in a 2.5 year bear market, in the last six months most other crypto have actually been doubling or tripling there all time lows, so their experience of bear market conditions lasted less than 2 years.  All the evidence seems to point a new bull market developing.
How big and fast will that bull market be?  Well there are many reasons to be optimistic and have hope that the bull market will be parabolic, maybe even more so than the last one that ended in Jan 2018.
The patterns of the last few cycles seem to be repeating themselves
    There are more exchanges
The exchanges are easier for ordinary members of the public to join and use
The bear market has been too severe and weak hands are gone
Covid has left investment institutions with a lot of spare cash without a home.
Institutional investment is likely to join in this time round.
Many block chain projects have prospects of utility
I could make the list much longer

If you're the slightest bit diversified, I've got a hunch that your time will come (and soon). Within a few weeks I think we'll start seeing comparable price appreciation in other tokens. Of course, XRP has a huge supply and that may restrict its upside to a degree. I am sure it will break its ATH within the next year though.

I don't think so. Ripple is already under enormous pressure because of the huge supply they hold. Right now us holders are still patient but to see projects like chainlink exploding it feels very bad and makes people doubt a lot. Most feel like xrp should have done that. So either ripple succeeds in xrp adoption or they have to burn the supply, because than it means that there is no need for so much xrp. (like stellar did). Otherwise we're all out.
