JoelQuinn reacted to BobWay in Hi! I'm Bob
Just a quick note to everyone...
I'm enjoying all the accolades and the really great welcome I've received here. Thank you all! I'm realizing that I really am quite vain!
But really I'd appreciate everyone here being very skeptical. Just know It won't scare me off.
This holds for questioning me and my presumptions... Really question EVERYTHING you've ever seen in a press release. I'm not a huge fan of puffery. There are too many awesome technical and ecosystem developments going to waste time puffing silliness. I'm happy to explain thing in either high-level marketing speak, or way too low-level technical talk. I love it when people understand and appreciate the Ripple Ledger, and ILP, and Synchronized Payments, and consensus algorithms, and...  It's all quite beautiful once you see it clearly. My role is to help everyone see it clearly.
I used to tell all the new Ripplers that I trained, "DON'T presume that you SHOULD BE able to understand everything we say. Lots of the words we use don't actually make any sense. Many phrases have weird connotations that you can't possibly understand. We are horrible about naming things and tend to explain easy things in quirky terms. NOBODY IN BANKING EVER ISSUES YOU A BALANCE! They simply credit your account. But we continue to say these silly things everyday."
You can all presume that I think I'm right  and also presume that I think I'm telling you the complete truth. But be skeptical! Make me explain it to your satisfaction and bring your own insights. That is where I get the most benefit. The fastest way for me to realize when I'm wrong is to have smarter people than me tell me so! I hate being wrong, but I hate more, being wrong without people telling me so.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to some great discussion!

It surprises me how frequent contributors to this forum still don't see the fundamental innovation that decentralized digital assets are bringing to our world, and how they will help us to shape a better future.

I'd suggest that both of you (codiusrex as well) take a step back and look at the World-Wide infrastructure that Ripple has built, and the increasingly rapid pace of its adoption. This is the proverbial 'key' that will ultimately unlock the doors for xrp utilization. This 'dilution' will likely become one of the keys to xrp's success, as it will help to dampen a potentially runaway price appreciation as xrp adoption enters a rapid growth phase. A steady and consistent rise in xrp is what's desired, and not wild increases, which are inevitably followed by equally aggressive declines. Characterizing SBI's upcoming xrp utilization as "hopium" is just FUD in my opinion. Of course, it could also be what I'd describe as an immature response based upon unrealistic expectations of  "instant gratification."  Try backpacking for a while and you'll quickly come to realize that persistence is the necessary attitude, as one never actually gets anywhere in leaps and bounds.

Why Euro Exim Bank is all in
Euro Exim Bank became interested in Ripple when some executives were invited to the company’s Swell conference in San Francisco last October. “We realized the type of companies there were very forward thinking in the innovation they were putting in place,” Bright said. “We saw the technology would let us easily and quickly originate payments without having bilateral relationships.” The bank also liked the idea of receiving an audit and record of everything happening on the network. “That visibility is so important,” Bright said. In contrast, in an interview on Jan. 4, he noted that his bank had sent a payment instruction to another bank on Dec. 29 across the Swift network and still didn’t know where it was. “It was lost somewhere in the quagmire of a central organization and we have no visibility on where it is,” said Bright, who worked at Swift for 20 years. All the counterparty says is, " 'We’ve not received your message.' ”
Euro Exim Bank plans to start using XRP in cross-border payments in the first quarter of this year. It hopes to not only be the first bank to use XRP and xRapid in cross-border payments, but to help other banks take the same path.

"Ripple, provider of leading enterprise blockchain solutions for payments, announced today that 13 new financial institutions have signed up for the company’s payment network, RippleNet. The companies include Euro Exim Bank, SendFriend, JNFX, FTCS, Ahli Bank of Kuwait, Transpaygo, BFC Bahrain, ConnectPay, GMT, WorldCom Finance, Olympia Trust Company, Pontual/USEND and Rendimento. With these additions, there are now more than 200 customers signed up for RippleNet.
JNFX, SendFriend, Transpaygo, FTCS and Euro Exim Bank will leverage the digital asset XRP to source liquidity on-demand when sending payments on behalf of their customers. Using XRP for liquidity when sending a cross-border payment helps financial institutions avoid the hassle of pre-funding accounts in destination currencies. It allows them to make faster, lower cost payments than they can through the traditional correspondent banking System."
"In 2018, nearly 100 financial institutions joined RippleNet, and we’re now signing two—sometimes three—new customers per week. We also saw a 350 percent increase last year in customers sending live payments, and we’re beginning to see more customers flip the switch and leverage XRP for on-demand liquidity,” said Brad Garlinghouse, CEO of Ripple. “At the end of the day, our goal is to make sure our customers can provide excellent, efficient cross-border payments experiences for their customers, wherever they are in the world.”
