@BobWay welcome! Glad to see you here and hope you will stay
I have one more question if you don’t mind.
Do you think, whether by design or by chance, that XRP can turn out to be the leading reserve asset/ currency and not just the leading bridge asset/ currency?
i.e. entities stockpiling it and not just use it for on demand liquidity?
    Thank you in advance!

Hello all. Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm Bob Way, formerly of Ripple. Thank you in advance for allowing me to join your forum.
Back in the early days of crypto I was pretty active in the Bitcointalk and Ripple communities (under the username "Red"). In fact my community participation was what directly led to me going to work for Chris and the gang at OpenCoin. I made a lot of good friend in the forums five years back. I'm hoping to make some new ones now.

DQA reacted to RegalChicken in What % of XRP Will You Cash Out at $50?
My initial 100% cash out price in January 2018 was $10-12.
As things went awry, I had figured I'd sell around 10% at $5 last summer.
I've spent 2 years adding to my stack now, and learning about what is going on in crypto, Ripple, and XRP. (as well as fintech, in general).
What I am seeing, I believe, is the same thing that happened to traditional media.
I think current fintech is on pace to absolutely destroy banks in the way that blogs, websites, and modern online media killed newspapers.

I think Robinhoods, squares, binances, Upholds etc could kill the banks and exchanges the way Amazon.com has killed retail brick and mortar.
So currently I have no sells planned under $48.

Depends how we get there but if you ask me now, I’ll probably sell 80-85% at 50 bucks.

Unless I'm reading this wrong or misinterpreting...they are saying they saved over 13k on the transfer fee. So was this a multimillion dollar xRapid transfer? I thought they said they'd be gradually adding zeros to the transaction fee size as time went by?
    Am I reading this wrong?!

Being Dutch, Gottfried maybe fell victim of the “ Dutch disease” :
    Wikipedia:
the Dutch disease is the apparent causal relationship between the increase in the economic development of a specific digital asset ( e.g XRP) and a decline in other sectors (traditional services like Swift)
I guess he has to stay in bed several weeks with high fever.

One could see this (second) delay coming from miles away. The official reason for the delay is regulatory uncertainty, but I do feel there is more at play here (i.e. the current unhealthy market sentiment).
Anyone may correct me if the following prediction turns out to be incorrect, but I think they won't even launch during Q1 of this year. Instead, I think they will launch in Q3 earliest.

DQA reacted to Eric123 in Manipulation in Anticipation of Bakkt Futures
This is what has happened and what is happening IMO.  My opinion only and I may be wrong - but I'm betting I'm not.
    Groups/People with money power/bitcoin= "They"
Last year "They" Bought bitcoins on the exchanges in anticipation of the CME futures (CME market was cash settled only, trades on CME did not affect the price - these basically were just bets not purchases of bitcoin).  The plan was to drive up the price of bitcoin by buying bitcoins on the exchanges in Oct, Nov, Dec 2017 then "They " took leveraged short positions on the futures market.  Then "They" sold their bitcoins on the exchanges driving down the price and making money on their leveraged shorts on the CME futures market.  This was the tail wagging the dog price wise.
    This year and upcoming -
The Intercontinental Exchange ICE - (the owners of the NYSE) is starting a futures market at the end of January 2018 called BAKKT - https://cointelegraph.com/news/nyse-operators-bakkt-confirms-end-of-january-launch-date-for-digital-assets-platform.
BAKKT will be settled in bitcoin.  Because it's settled in bitcoin "They" can't just make a bet on what will happen on the exchanges then manipulate the price down.  BAKKT will have to enter the market and buy the bitcoins and move them to their wallet.  This will significantly drive up the price of Bitcoin..
So basically we are watching a reverse of last year "They" are driving down the price of bitcoin in anticipation of the futures market driving it up which starts at the end of January 2019.
Once bitcoin moves up the entire market will move with it.  Bitcoin is a lot more scarce than most commodities and has a set number - "Physical" futures market should propel it to ATH.  XRP and all ALT's will go along for the ride.
Would like to hear other's opinions. Especially why I am wrong.

I am sure there are strategic considerations and depending on the progress Earthport has booked with Ripple, they might have acquired the the entity with the idea to have them as frontrunner to lead VISA's transition for cross border payments to the modern age.
Who knows, at the moment it's all speculation and all we know is that VISA acquired a company that uses Ripple product, which is nice, but correlation does not imply causation.

DQA got a reaction from hallwaymonitor in Is Earthport purchase by Visa Good News?
It's being blown up. Just because this company uses Ripple products does not necessarily mean anything. If Visa wants to work with Ripple they will do so directly, perhaps they already are and the acquisition is part of remodeling their payment infrastructure, but this news itself cannot be defined as good news.
People seem to be blowing things out of proportion, but that's just my opinion.

DQA reacted to 2ndtimearound in Recession and price
A lot of malinvestment into the stock market needs to be unwound...people literally have been cluelessly dumping money into stocks since interest rates have been crashed to zero (last 10 years).  The other day a JP Morgan analyst gave a positive outlook for General Electric and their price surged 7%.  That tells me that nobody has a fu3king clue where to put their money - when they think someone's opinion is good enough (forget fundamentals) as where to park their money.
XRP has some solid fundamentals going forward - they are actually disrupting how money is sent around the world.  They can save banks time and money.  Banks can free up Nostro cash.  All of this is actually useful to the worldwide economy - to grease the wheels of money flow - to allow it to move faster and cheaper.  I think the long-term outlook for XRP is very good, and perhaps because of a recession the price may increase.

The “Community “ didn’t get you into XRP. Your own convictions did. If you no longer believe in your investment, own up to it instead of trying to find a scapegoat.
Sell and get out, you’ll feel a lot better.

Your words “ saying $ 1 eoy won’t happen” sure sounds like a prediction to me.
I also like some of  the answers you got on your post of october.
I already felt in april/may  this year that the odds of a high price eoy where reducing fast and I acted accordingly. Still I remain with my statement that all predictions in crypto are BS, even my own. So no “ I told you so, nananananana” post from me.
But hey, if you need it and it makes you feel better.......( you know what they say about people who need constant confirmation, recognition and attention, don’t you?)

@Hodor very interesting post from your early days I just came across via google.
Would you mind sharing an update on your report from 2017. I have come to the same conclusion and I strongly believe ILP with XRP as liquidity asset are planned to be used in the near future with SDR (e)currencies to replace the dollar as a more stable and fair reserve option.
    Some snippets:

"Zhou Xiaochuan, the central bank’s governor, said the goal would be to create a reserve currency “that is disconnected from individual nations and is able to remain stable in the long run, thus removing the inherent deficiencies caused by using credit-based national currencies”.
To replace the current system, Mr Zhou suggested expanding the role of special drawing rights, which were introduced by the IMF in 1969 to support the Bretton Woods fixed exchange rate regime but became less relevant once that collapsed in the 1970s.
    ...
China’s proposal would expand the basket of currencies forming the basis of SDR valuation to all major economies and set up a settlement system between SDRs and other currencies so they could be used in international trade and financial transactions."
