So bear with me it is going to be a tad technical and a rather long post. To those who have studied international trade or logistics it will be piece of cake. TL;DR: Skip to the back-office section way down this post. When I discovered Ripple business plan, it did not take me long to think about the amazing opportunities it offers with the Forex market. We know Ripple wants to tackle the Forex market and is already penet

This is an interesting thread. I doubt there is anyone not feeling the same way. Whether we have hope for the future of XRP, or no hope at all, I am fairly certain everyone here is not enjoying the doldrums of a somehwat limp market, and in particular the feeling that XRP is not moving like it should, even if not mooning yet. It is befuddling at certain times. It has always felt suspicious to me, but I have accepted it only because I know it's a highly speculative play. Big risk, possible big reward, and not for the impatient apparently, and never what one thinks it's going to be.

Because Les Échos (wikipedia) is not a crypto media we are used to see everyday like newsBTC, Cointelegraph or CoinDesk. Les Échos is a French daily newspaper of economic and financial information, founded in 1908. It is one of the main stream French newspaper and has a lot of reach in my countr

I just had a conversation with a guy on Thur who was focused on this concept, but didnt know that it had a name... Fractal payments I expect smart contracts to facilitate a proliferation of fractal payment schemes in many industries. What your thinking about in the quote above has been in place for decades, it is called the WIR currency, and the Rippled code around trustlines and Rippling are structurally close to the same setup, if you run the value flows through XRP. 10. I started laughing as I realized how inevitable this is. Streaming payments for transport / travel is going to radically change payment in those industries. The fact that payment contracts could be bi-directional is interesting too. If there’s a delay in delivery (boat heads back to port), value could be instantly refunded on a streaming basis. This also allows for wider-ranging changes in business models down the line, like profit participation. Maybe a parts supplier is willing to provide cheap (or free) materials in return for a percentage of profits, guaranteed by a smart contrac

  11. Hi there, yesterday I closed my "play stash"-positions on eToro and sold at 0.357 - Reward: ~200 Bucks. Only a few minutes later ETH collapsed followed by BTC, XRP and others later on... Why did I sell: I had confidence in the TA of botje11 who expected that "correction" - once again he was right. On telegram he warned a few hours before and he presented three possible scenarios plus the conditions that made the respective scenario likely. I was warned. And then ... as I sat on my couch another twitter message: Its most likely event will occur within the next few hours, condition

  12. My theory is that the markets are highly influenced by the BTC dominated crypto press where FUD about XRP is readily adopted and efficiently dispersed to gullible readers. This press also gets to the institutional investors who have not done much deep research and are sitting on the sidelines reading the FUD just like everyone else. Enjoy the low prices while they last, this situation will not last forever.

The current running ledger was launched in late December of 2012. It was designed and built in the 9 months preceding that. It can live as long as people continue to find value in it. It is perfectly reasonable to update it to new technologies as they are invented and become useful. They've already added new cryptographic signing techniques, so that should continue into the future as well.

It's interesting to see this one; its also interesting that they mentioned Ethereum only in the context of their ICO token, and even said Ethereum would be replaced.... etc.. and then launched into a sales pitch for some company. But when it comes time to lend credibility to their idea, and how they plan on moving money, they knew enough to include this reference...

  21. Regulation is the opposite of manipulation. You guys are talking about manipulating the price of XRP to certain people’s agenda’s. I am getting a little fed up of this conspiracy talk without presenting solid facts, that is getting quite old imho. Anyone can shout the price is manipulated downwards or to be ‘stable’ and people will believe it because they are disgruntled and looking for a reason their money is ‘gone’. Sure, manipulation is around and in times it is clearly visible. But to claim a mysterious ‘they’ can control the price as much as they want is utter nonsense. There

I'm not convinced that it isn't due to context of the bigger crypto market, and the long and dragged-out slump that has continued for the past 14+ months. Thinking back to mid to late 2017, XRP was the last to rally, and when it finally did, it went parabolic. I wouldn't be surprised if we see a big jump considerably after the entire market moves decisively back into bull territory.

Apart from the lack of regulation that prevents XRP to be put into use, my only answer is the following: The crypto market is not prone to being affected by news anylonger, at least in the current state of things regarding the trend we are going through. Although, if we were in a semi bull-ish market, XRP could possibly be positively affected by news. It is scary and I am wondering why it is not moving in our favor, every single day, on multiple occasions. I openly reckon that I am severely affected by the psychological effects of this trend, yet too resilient to make a mov

  30. I think so as well. BTC will be a store of value I think, provided fiats are continually losing value by printing presses. XRP will be used for rapid micro transactions (and institutional size transactions of course). Just as an example, there are traders who prefer BTC but utilize XRP for sending the funds from one exchange to another to convert back into fiat etc. we all know the speed of this transaction using XRP. And because of the speed there is much less risk on conversion to fiat by first trading BTC for XRP then to fiat or vice versa. one could use an exchange such as C

  32. The same market behavior happened in late November of 2017. Bitcoin road a fast train up while XRP stagnated for weeks. People even started to lose faith in XRP despite all of the consistently-great news about actual business usage of XRP and Ripple products. And then it hit. And when it hit, the wave of speculative investment transformed into a frenzy that only started to taper off in the second week of January the next year. It exceeded the increases in Bitcoin by a fantastic degree during this three-week period. Leave if you want ... or don't. I'm no

Once you have solid ILSP tech you can reconfigure it for applications in other markets like Corp cash/credit. @JannaOneTrick very excellent post, thank you for taking the time to articulate this. I love it when folks here drop some knowledge. One quick challenge to this that I'd like to entertain (just for fun) is... what if, this whole model of handling FX is abandoned in whole or in part? 37. Yes, exactly that. Very good image reference. The goal of the algorithm is to have mostly green orders at the top of both sides of the Combined Order Book. If purple orders execute to provide liquidity for payments, it does XRP and its holders no good at all. If green orders execute to provide liquidity for payments, it makes XRP more liquid for everyone.

I don't really know enough to comment. So many researchers are doing very interesting work in the space. This includes "blockchain technology" without cryptocurrencies at all. Non-blockchain projects using a token and chain added in for operator payment. Others with smart contracts or chain code and a "build it in our chain based cloud" attitude. Often these projects have potentially interesting use cases and ideas behind them. Cardano seems to be one of them judging by its site. But an interesting thing happened while I was at Ripple working on "blockchain technology". We kept find

If you think Ripple owe you anything your are mistaken. Put on your big boy pants and grab your hairy swingers and expect another 3 yrs before you might even see a decent ROI. I feel for you. You are invested for more than a year in something you dont really understand. And instead of doing more research about market cycles in crypto and how this perfectly fits in the current market trend, you decide to blame others for their optimism, just ad you’ve done many times before. It’s OK to vent or to feel down about the current state of the market and XRP’s price. But to blame others for your own decisions, is something I really loathe. Sorry, but in such cases I am not taking the effort to sooth your pain.

Last year, for every person that got in on the way up (or at the top) there were likely 10 or 20 who didn’t get in. That list included me. There are millions of people out there thinking ‘whew, thank goodness I didn’t get approved’. Those people now have empty accounts but they can get in the next time around. Likewise the exchanges are now ready for the next explosion. My conclusion is that we have a while to wait....but I do believe that there will be large runs in the future. Institutional money
