The European Bank Recovery and Resolution Directive (BRRD) is the European Union’s implementation of the Financial Stability Board’s key attributes on effective resolution regimes for FI’s, spelling out the rules for recovery and resolution of failing institutions. The implementation for EU member states started in 2015 with the exception of the bail-in clauses. In November 2016, the European Commission proposed a number of revisions to the BRRD. The panel will shed some light on the impact on Trade finance activities from a practitioner’s perspective, the changes recently proposed by the Commission, and the current implementation status of key countries which are at different stages of respective legislative processes.
